Excellent place to work to gain new skills and experience
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Burnaby Heights, BC – 26 September 2018
No day at work is typical. Customer Care team sees all aspects of the patient experience. The hardest part of the job is when you have a patient who is suffering from their personal health battle and has financial challenges. We deal with many people who are non residents to Canada or have immigrated. Their challenges continue.
Health Care Worker (Former Employee) – Port Coquitlam, BC – 9 August 2018
When I worked day and afternoon shifts I enjoyed the busy pace and the interaction with the residents at Colony Farm. I was kept busy setting up for meals, reminding residents to carry out their daily routines, escorting them to programs, and appointments in the community or shopping trips. In most areas residents were to take care of their own laundry. In some areas there was a life skills component which required housekeeping, personal care of laundry and room, menu planning, budgeting and grocery shopping. There were many opportunities to take residents to community coffee or movie outings. All activities and outings required care to secure the physical space for the residents and staff.
Pleasant workplace with friendly but hardworking coworkers.
Temporary Administrative Resource Team (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 7 April 2018
Working with PHSA was a great experience. I was graced with lovely coworkers who maintained a fun but professional work environment. The work we were doing was fast paced but well organized and I'd have it no other way.
Surgical Suite Aide (Current Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 19 March 2018
I have had the pleasure of working at BC Children's hospital back in 2007-2012 and again in 2017. Out of all the surgical teams i have ever been a part of this team has been one of my favourites. The care that all staff give on all levels is astounding.
Ward Clerk (Current Employee) – Summerside, PE – 9 January 2018
You work as a team and every one and their contribution is valued and important. Busy, fast paced environment with lots of room to improve and grow in the role. Staff are always appreciative of help received and a great "family" feel.
Company does not value employees/ violates contracts
Physician (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 8 January 2018
The company violates contracts and will sue to not pay employees appropriately, despite knowing they are incorrect, as they know most employees don't have the time, energy or resources to defend themselves.
The PHSA didn't pay me for several months despite working full time.
Once they did pay me, they paid me at a lower rate than what was agreed upon.
They also failed to provide a contract in a timely manner (12 months into the contract year)
They also utilized pressure tactics to sign a contract for less money than what was previously promised.
The organization is extremely bureaucratic and inefficient.
Do not work for this organization.
Free hot dog 1-2 times a year
long hours. They short pay you, probably to pay for the hot dogs.
Administrative Assistant, Contract (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 24 December 2017
Although the work was challenging, Workplace culture is that there needs to be more respect for all employees. Although there were courses to take for being a respectful workplace, not everyone follows through.
Associate, Employee Records & Benefits (Former Employee) – Burnaby, BC – 3 December 2017
Given the limitations of finances in Healthcare, PHSA is a stable working environment with many highly experienced professionals. It is a patient-centrered organization which leaves little for innovative business practices.
Advisor (Former Employee) – Burnaby, BC – 14 October 2017
There is a large shortage of qualified labor in this company. There are a lot of talkers which fail to take action and the company itself is extremely middle management heavy. If you are a performer, you will get access to all sorts of interesting work in this company. Unfortunately, they will rely on you absolutely and do not compensate as per performance, rather its how knows and likes you instead. I developed a lot with this company but found it frustrating when performance increases are capped at 2-3% yearly and I was given the same increases as other peers.
Scheduling Clerk (Former Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 30 July 2017
I would love working at PHSA easy work as I know myself as a hard worker but can't handle to work with co-workers who are not willing to help as a team and most of them PHSA employees are related to each other in other words they are family---:)) and if you don't have nobody your out.
