Registered Nurse in Kingston, ON

They don't care about their employees. Providence care mental health services was the worst kind of bullying I've ever experienced. Makes all the other places I've ever worked at seem super friendly by comparison. Maybe a unit will have 1 or 2 bullies... a clique or two. This place (specifically the Forensic division) is like a nest of snakes. The teams on the other units are much nicer, but still nobody sticks up for you even though the behavior of the toxic staff is well known. The new building has no proper staff room for nurses. The mental health clients are stigmatized. Good place for learning mental health skills with the intention of moving on to better institutions.

Fast Paced, but Productive
Busy paced, but team work prevelant. I appreciated the autonomy of my position and building up of the position for decision support. Lots of positive feedback.

very good experience for prospective healthcare professionals
This is ideal for high school students and university students wishing to have a part-time job. 8-10 3 hour shifts per month plus picking up extra when needed

Super staff...great management support
For a place that praises the work of the sisters of Providence, who would give care to inmates, poor, sick people, they are absolutely the opposite. They cherry pick their patients, only want healthy people and are focused on pay for performance for upper management. Front line staff, the core of their workers doesn't see any of those funds. Kgh is in surplus while pccc has empty beds. Makes no sense!
