Unorganized company and lacking strong management
Production Technician (Current Employee) –  Aurora, ON13 March 2014
I learned a lot about pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment and technologies.
Employment satisfaction is very low. There is a contradictory attitude that they want you (or tell you) to work safe and then get annoyed when you are not able to accomplish everything there is to do. It is very hard to work safely when you are constantly rushed.
A lot of equipment is broken and not functioning as it should and requires Jerry-rigging a solution.
The entire plant is basically contaminated with toxic compounds and chemicals because the job culture is so messy and disorganized.
Extreme disregard for environment, and I'm putting that lightly.
Very underemployed to do the amount of work they expect and safely. Below average pay does not make working with genotoxic and prostaglandin compounds worth it. Sometimes we won't know if a product is genotoxic until years later when the research finally comes in. Batch/cleaning instructions are sometimes unclear/full of mistakes and/or don't make sense.
Management is horrible and turn over is very high. Very little satisfaction from working at this company.
Pros
free coffee, unscheduled breaks, relative freedom when you become trusted
Cons
faulty equiment, disgusting job culture, poor management, extreme health cons

An Enjoyable and Challenging Workplace
Quality Control Analyst II (Current Employee) –  Aurora, ON26 August 2013
The workday of a QC/LS Analyst at Piramal Healthcare can be really hectic at times.
The biggest challenge is to be able to simultaneously run multiple analyses on multiple instruments. Since results are required very promptly, it's important to perform everything without any errors/repeats.
I learned how to be very attentive to details, and to be highly organized. I learned various analytical instrumentation and developed skills to repair/troubleshoot instruments.

The coworkers are very friendly and fun to be with.

The hardest part of the job is to balance time with many required analyses, and to solve instrumentation problems along the way.
Pros
Shift work
Cons
Long hours

R&D Analyst & Lab Services Analyst (Current Employee) –  Aurora, ON3 March 2013
Great place to work at, aside from the salary. Management assigns work daily and ensures that you get the most out of your day. Constantly trying to push analysts to cross-train. Excellent location to learn about analytical laboratory instrumentation - A great group of friendly and helpful analysts are consistently working at your side.
