Good cheerful atmosphereIt is a very good nursing home to work for. They give you your birthday off and there is a great social comitee and a wonderful Christmas party. They have a reputation of keeping employees and the only reason why I left was because of the drive.in the winter. They don’t have a union because they don’t need one. It’s one of the best nursing homes in Canada. The employers are very fair.
Kitchen Staff in Tavistock, ON

just an ok work placeA typical day at work would be taking residents orders for dinner and helping serve them. after dinner was served I would go back down to the kitchen with he cart of dishes and have to try to hurry and get them all washed so they could be sent back up for the second round of residents. after all dishes were done I would have to clean up the kitchen by wiping down the dish washer and cleaning floors and garbage. Also on every shift at some point you would have to go back upstairs to fill and empty the snack carts. while working here i learned that your not always going to like every one you work with. The management for the kitchen staff I believed was poor. The hardest part of this job was trying to remember the residents when told to take there food to them.

not a horrible place to work but not great eitherAdmin expects you to just drop everything and be available to work any and all hours. They try to make you feel guilty and bully you if you can't work. Too much is expected of the PSWs.
