Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 14 February 2020

The most useful review selected by IndeedThe money is awesome. The camp looks awesome, but the food is horrible. The equipment is run into the ground. Management doesn't care about the staff.

Heavy Equipment Operator & Underground Miner (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 3 January 2022
No amount of money is worth the dysfunction and corruption of this type of organization. It’s tempting to be a bum in a seat an make a killing but to take no pride in what you do, who you work for, what you’re building, where you’re investing your time, being unable to utilize what you know, or learn anything new, learn from anyone you work for, it does something to a person after a while.
Pros
So much money
Cons
Unlimited cons

Insights into Peace River Hydro Partners
Areas for improvement
- Support from manager
- Trust in colleagues
- Inclusive work environment
Diverse scope of work and labour intensive
Equipment Operator/Laborer (Current Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 22 February 2021
Too many young bucks with no or little work experience just hanging out while a select few do the work. Management sees it but have tied hands on account of the union. The lazy ones take full advantage of not being able to get fired. Good work, VERY good pay, excellent camp and amazing people for the most part.
Pros
Amazing Camp, great staff
Cons
Too many Pilons with faces.

Pay is decent
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 2 July 2020
Go to work, collect your paycheck. Be prepared to move the same dirt 5 times. The job scope is neat. Watch out for your own safety and your brother and sisters back.
Pros
Crews, camp is clean
Cons
equipment is beaten.

It was not a great experience
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 30 November 2019
Far to much turn over. Management is from a different country & they are used to doing things differently than in Canada.
Frustrated employees.
The moral is usually very low.

Grade school and should pay attention to Reviews
Equipment Operator (Current Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 4 September 2019
Not an environment conducive to learning or advancement. You need to be friends with the Foreman and Rat out your brother to fit in. You’re not placed in a position based on what you know it’s who you know. Very inefficient management. Won’t change up task to give others a fair shot!

Poorly managed , disorganized ,
Labourer/Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 5 August 2019
So poorly managed its unreal. We couldn't get tools , wear parts or even bolts to carry on with our work. Safety turns a blind eye to incidents , and there seems to be zero repercusions for continual infractions.
Pros
Wages, flights
Cons
Food is awful, management

Lack of leadership.
Equipment operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 3 August 2019
Some foreman are great, have lots of knowledge and work well with the crews, but are held back by upper management that don't know better. And other forman are clueless and having a power trip, and have no respect for the crew they are running.

Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 2 January 2019
Terrible place to work. The camp is good but the work and management is terrible. Favouritism at its finest. People that get hired to do jobs end up at the bottom with a shovel in their hand. Will never be going back
Pros
Free lunch
Cons
Everything else

fast paced work environment
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Saint John, NB - 12 December 2018
PRHP was one of the most rewarding jobs, dam building and moving 600,000 meters of concrete was great for the company and the employees. the company itself safety wise wasn't up to industry standard.

Worst run job out there
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 3 November 2018
Can’t say enough bad about this job and management, worst run job I’ve ever been to. Constant daily job threats. Complete favouritism. Biggested gong show going right now. If you do end up coming here make sure it’s to right bank, left bank is a total mess ran by idiots and a wannabe tough guy of a GF.
Needs a complete management sweep!
Pros
Decent camp
Cons
Everything about work

Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 18 September 2018
No planning, it’s a great project with lots of potential BUT the management has to change to make things work properly. To many ideas and needs to be simplified...... work smarter NOT harder
Pros
Great bunch of craft workers here that will have your back
Cons
Poor planning, lazy supervision

No direction
No support
Zero safety
Zero advancment
Zero training
Complete gong show
No communication
Horribe and toxic environment
Should be under investigation......
WCB should have an office there, so they can't hand pick the operators they talk to and send the rest of us to work areas they don't go visit.
Pros
Zero
Cons
Everything

Was steady work until layoffs came around.
Heavy Equipment Operator (Former Employee) - Fort St. John, BC - 8 September 2017
Still sour about this company, and the union I was working for. 15 Months of hard work and they let 250+ go because they couldn't plan future work. I understand the government is doing a revue and is limiting work, but the people they let go were not in any way reviewed for their qualifications or dedication to work. Everyone is a number with no seniority to save them.
Pros
good camp
Cons
unsteady work
