My manager was so nice and quite helpful. Just one thing I didn't like was- usually they scheduled 1 person for a whole shift and there was no camera in the store for any accidents! Otherwise everything was good.

Good job when it existed

Loved this job company was great righ up until the closed out. Wish they would come back Great management great upper management. Good pay and good work life balance. Unfortunately they claimed bankruptcy

Fun place to work with

Best company I’ve work with, great support from management. They value and respect you as a person.There’s an opportunity for advancement. Paid fairly. Work life balance is great!

Good summer job

The Payless I worked at was in a mall, so that made it even busy at times. We had to be open on all the holidays because it was in a mall. You’re on your feet all day, yes you do get lunch and a break but still its demanding on your feet and plus you would sometimes have to climb up ladders to get shoes from the top. The customers weren't that bad, most of time you would get nice people who don't want to give you a hard time.


When it's not that busy you can chill in the back

overall it's a stressful environment, often understaffed to offset the busiest times of the day, You can't schedule employees for a 3 hour or split shift every day. You have to be on your toes and often the workload is extreme.

I had a good experience there, but I was student that time as well and they were flexible about my time worked. I tried to do best. I had good costumer service in Payless shoe company

Great people. Ok environment

Great people made friends for life. By end of time at company it was not good. the company was going out of business so all bad stuff was dialed to eleven.

Clear company standards and expectations

As with any large company there was up and downs with working there, much of it was dependent upon the District Leader at the time. The company stood behind their product but staffing was too far in the last few years

very good productive and fun place to work at

very good place to work at it was a great experience working there if the I didn't get into a car accident I would have stayed and worked more but ufortunately some things are unstoppable and we can't do anything over all it is a good store and anyone would love to work in a friendly environment.

Great place to work. Had a continuing education program and would work with employee to better them self. Small staff but good team dynamics. Slower paced but enjoyable.

very little hours

1-3 days 3 to 4 hours shifts not realistic to survive on. Sometimes worked alone during closing which is a safety issue and while pregnant had to climb ladders because I was working alone.

Productivity, Customer interraction

Greet customers, offer assistance, Explain promotion and explain about the product. Check promotion updates, Stay up to date with Sales and KPI, daily, weekly and monthly. Prepare weekly Target sales and how to achieve them. Prepare weekly Time sheets and update the time sheets at the end of the week. Train and coach the associates. Coach to achieve their daily conversion, UPT, DPT etc.

Nepotism personified

Your job is secure depending on your district leader or group leader and if you feed their egos. With lots of years experience within the company, you get no room for advancement after becoming a store leader even though your store out performs its kpi's, unprofessional behavior and comments from direct management. Rotating management should be done often instead of settling down managers because they live close by but cannot perform well in their jobs.

I have worked with a lot of people at payless and I have appreciated every single one of them. I have been here for 7 years and I am only leaving because they are closing all locations.

Payless+Families= What it's all about!

Just like their Business model states! Payless is in business for families and because of families! both out front for all our costumers, and behind the scenes, within the team and management. It is a pleasure to work for a company with such strong relationships who work hard to offer the best service at the best prices for our families! The biggest pay off of all this hard work shows in our regular costumers who always leave us happy and satisfied with all their purchases, that fit perfectly with their every day needs. THAT is the best part about working there along the wonderful relationships we gained with our fellow coworkers.

Pay management well

preaches work life balance but managers work long days and have high expecatatins with minimal payroll budgets. Job security threatened by upper management on regular basis. Stores are always dirty and poorly maintained regardless of time spent on them. Good benefits package including RRSP

Fun atmosphere

The people I work with are all very friendly so this makes my everyday shifts enjoyable, plus most customers are very kind and leave me feeling happy to help them find whatever they are looking for.

Environnement joyeux

Il a toujours été agréable d'y travailler. Les clients sont toujours heureux de l'aide que nous leur apportons. Les gérants offrent une superbe formation et sont toujours présent si nous avons des questions. L'avancement y est également présent. J'ai appris beaucoup sur le service clientèle, les différentes façons d'aborder les gens, la manière de gérer un magasin de grand volume, respecter des planogrammes...
