It was not a bad place to work.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 23 September 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedMy manager was so nice and quite helpful. Just one thing I didn't like was- usually they scheduled 1 person for a whole shift and there was no camera in the store for any accidents! Otherwise everything was good.

Fun workplace
Manager (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 3 December 2023
Fun environment but also stressful at same time. Had fun trying out new products. Co workers were fun to work with and staff was nice. Management tried their best.

Stressful
Multi store manager (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 13 February 2020
overall it's a stressful environment, often understaffed to offset the busiest times of the day, You can't schedule employees for a 3 hour or split shift every day.
You have to be on your toes and often the workload is extreme.

Relaxed environment
Customer Service/Associate (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 29 January 2020
I had fun working for the company. Its fast paced and time goes so fast. But its not stressful even though we're busy most of the time, because co-workers are actually helpful. We're working but at the same time we're having fun

RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 13 May 2018
not that great to work with the management. the employees are good and friendly and can get along with some of them easily depending on the location, but others are hostile and rude . training is not great either.

Good Starter Job
Part Time Sales (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 10 February 2018
This company gives you the tools to become a successful worker. The training structure is on point and everything is laid out by shift so you don't feel like you are being thrown into chaos right away. You are required to do a little bit of everything on a daily basis (customer service, promo tagging, shipment, cash register) It's a good thing to have experience in all of these areas if you want to move on to another retail profession.
Pros
training program, scheduling flexibility, associate discounts
Cons
outdated technology, repetitive tasks

Fun workplace
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 25 January 2018
Working at this place gives a lot of customer service experience but never give any pay raise, doesn't matter how hard you work. The whole team works together to drive profitable results.

Easy job
Sales Associate (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 5 September 2017
NO security. Management is okay. Salary/wage is very low. a typical day at work consists of fixing shoes, doing shipment, garbage, sweeping floors, etc.
Pros
easy job
Cons
no security.

shoe store with complicated and not so efficient upper management
Sales Associate/Key Holder (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 27 June 2017
payless is keen on doing a job well done, even though it does not have the proper motivators or tools to help employees do so. it does not have a good inventory or storage system, which further explains the previous statement. payless is good work experience, but i would manage and do things differently if i were given a choice/chance.
Pros
ok work environment and simple job
Cons
nothing comes to mind

would not work there again even for double the pay
Full Time Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 4 June 2017
the company treats its employees horribly. the technology provided is still from 1980. the manager i had practically pushed every staff member that she didn't like for personal reasons out the door. constantly understaffed.

Slow.
Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 2 January 2017
The work itself is ok but how the management in the higher levels works is slow and counterproductive in allot of cases. Its also nearly impossible to advance in the company.

I love working there as the team is filled with great people and we work well together. I want to stay there but I went to school so I could find a career and there for this is why I will be leaving here only when I have a career.

Unprofessional work environment
Cashier (Former Employee) - Chinook center Calgary, AB - 25 June 2014
The management team was run like the popular table in a high school, if they deemed you as unworthy you were treated as a lesser person.
