Great Company with a fantastic environment

Working at PICN has been a very rewarding, welcoming experience. It is a place that you are happy to go to work, excel and most importantly helping others. The compassion of each of the nurses, in office staff makes a positive environment.

It’s all about the company
RPN (Current Employee) - Whitby, ON - 5 August 2022
Visiting program is difficult to make $. They leave gaps in the schedule where you are not paid. Long day for a little pay and lots of km on your car. You’re punished via your schedule if you are deemed to be insubordinate. There is no benefits to being a long term employee your shifts can be taken from you and given to the new employee. Management plays favourites!! This place truly needs a union. If you are sent to work shifts that take you and hour to get to, tough, your not paid for that time either.
Pros
It can be flexible if they like you
Cons
Favourtism

Not a bad place to work
RPN (Current Employee) - Whitby serving durham region - 1 April 2022
I have enjoyed my time at this company. The pay is decent but unfortunately due to an increase of cost of living it is not enough. Benefits are not that great. Management is good.

Extensive orientation given
Community Nurse (Current Employee) - Whitby, ON - 28 July 2021
This is the only company I have worked for that gives such an extensive orientation that helped me when I started working out in the community on my own. Fellow nurses are supportive and management team is available to help you succeed. Lots of support from office.

Amazing company to work for
RPN (Current Employee) - Durham Region, ON - 1 October 2020
I really wouldn't trade working at partners for any other community nursing agency. I love my job at partners, the management is kind always and really approachable. The compensation is okay, could be improved though.
Pros
Educational workshops (paid) and training

Supportive Enviroment
Community Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Durham Region, ON - 31 January 2020
This agency is very supportive and provides many oppurtunities for nurses to practice their skills including providing paid in-services and workshops. The focus of this agency was to support their nurses and subsequently improve patient care and safety. It was a great place to work.

Poor Management, Discriminating Work Culture, Inadequate compensation
Administrative Support (Former Employee) - Whitby, ON - 19 February 2019
Management is poor, and lacks incentive to promote positive change.
Management is 'self-serving'.
Training for the community staff is barebones, and staff is provided with minimal support.
High turnover rate. Poor Pay. Discriminating and gossip-style work culture. Highly lacking in professionalism, stemming from management.
Pros
None
Cons
Too many to list.

Great
RPN (Current Employee) - Whitby, ON - 21 September 2018
As a new(ish) nurse I cant say a huge amount about many other companies however... the management is the most supportive team of nurses I have even experienced working with. Everyone who trained me was a pleasure to have my first few shifts with. Orientation is extensive and you learn SO much, even if youre not a new nurse. Great place for me to start. I wish they were located in other locations as well, not just Durham
Pros
A lot.
Cons
Nothing I can think of

management favours people
nurse (Former Employee) - Durham Region, ON - 27 August 2018
culture is poor. management/ office staff have their favourites, and they get preference. They don't follow up with concerns raised for months if at all. The only enjoyable part was the clients. scheduling is a nightmare unless you are one of their pets, then you'll get whatever you want
Pros
the clients
Cons
hours, management, work life balance
