Not a Nice Company to Work For
Adminstrative (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB4 September 2018
I had a terrible manager who I did not trust and could not please. I worked day and night and even weekends and holidays. They say you need work/life balance but it never happens and you are not appreciated for it.

The hardest part of the job was you couldn't even go up to higher management for guidance. You are helpless.
Pros
Summer Hours
Cons
You still have to work overtime and not be paid

Good place to get experience but lots of problems.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Montréal, QC3 August 2018
Management is non-existent in terms of doing their jobs. Frequently getting late to stocking cigarettes, drinks not being stocked, never tell us about the mystery shopper will be visiting our store and we csr are shocked at deals for customers that we have no idea about.

The software is outdated and so is the cash machine. Looks like something from the earlier 2000s and management refuses to get a new machine or improve the software because it "works just fine". This leads to gas pumps constantly going offline due to software issues which causes customers to complain to the csr.

Expect to be doing a lot of cleaning (bathrooms, floors, kitchen) and stocking with the drinks. That can be hard and you have to follow the planogram, so be prepared to take upwards to 2 hours getting all that done.

Other than all that the job isn't too bad in terms work, you get to sit down and for the most part, past the peak times it is pretty quiet.

In terms of pay, it is minimum wage with a slight increase every year you put in.

Use this position as a way to get experience and then get out because there is no future there.
Pros
Lots of down time and relaxed atomosphere.
Cons
Warehousing work, cleaning toilets and old software causes problems

Huge focus on acquisition and integration, needs more focus on culture development, integrating acquired employees and focus on current staff. Management pushes hard on employees without listening to them or even pretending to care.
Pros
summer hours
Cons
no balance, high expectations, comp and benefits are below average

TERRIBLE Toxic working environment
Representative (Former Employee) –  Burlington, ON25 July 2018
Absolutely toxic poisonous working environment! Pioneer branch of Parkland has a very broken culture and nobody seems to care. Management is a joke, most of whom have been there 20+ years, if you aren't part of the alumni, or hired by someone from Parkland, you're not going to be accepted. Communication is beyond lacking and they have very little organization if any. Toxic workplace is an understatement.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Everything.

Pros

Evolving organization
Manager (Current Employee) –  Vancouver, BC1 February 2018
I'm too new to the organization to provide a thorough review. I think the intent of growth is positive, however they are weak at transitioning their many acquisitions. The senior leadership team although seemingly competent, is woefully lacking diversity - a red flag for the overall future health of the company.

Low wages for what is expected
Branch Representative (Former Employee) –  Flesherton, ON9 September 2017
Management does not hear what employees need to be successful. Sink or swim environment. Women in office work for low wages, and have work piled on them, very stressful during peak season. Men seem to do whatever they want.
On top of all the work management expects you to complete courses and upgrade on your own time, which is difficult for some with busy family life.
Everything is focused on the bottom dollar. Management often circulates information to customers without the branches knowledge until customers start calling with questions, often furious.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Poor support for overworked staff

Stay away from edmonton branch
Fuel Truck Driver (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB6 July 2017
Good company just stay away from Edmonton branch. You will work a few days than no work so stay home.

Edmonton branch manager and dispatcher say "drivers are dime a dozen " and we get new drivers to replace anyone who anytime.

Due to bad management all the senior drivers quit in the last 2 months.

As driver no matter what happens you will be blamed

Cons
Low pay and few hours .
