Worst management and poorest ran department I have ever been in.
I worked here for multiple months and I absolutely CAN NOT recommend a job in this Maintenance department to anyone. The maintenance department at Pan Pacific Whistler is one of the most mismanaged places i have ever worked. No support or training is given. you are expected to know how to do everything the exact way management want it done without ever being formally shown. One of the maintenance managers constantly talks trash about all the maintenance workers (talks trash about my co-workers to me. and about me to my co-workers) The so called “director of technical services” is the rudest and most arrogant person i have ever met and is completely un-approachable. He has absolutely no time or interest in his workers and makes that abundantly clear. Offers no help or support and if you ask him a question half the time you are greeted with a short and snarky reply or even no reply at all. We are made to feel like garbage for asking a question. Tools are not supplied when requested. We spend half our day searching for the tools to do the job. Suitable safety and protective equipment is not supplied for handling acid used for the pools despite asking on numerous occasions. Standard working procedures are non existent and both managers run their buildings COMPLETELY different. You do something one manager told you to do and the other one cracks it at you. you then do what they want and you get in trouble from the other one (except you don’t hear about it instead you hear about it from a co-worker who had to listen to them trash talking you). Complete uniform was never supplied. I got 2 shirts that where too small, 2 pants that where too small (only had 1 shirt and one pair of pants for the first month and a half). Was never issued my jackets despite them sitting in the office for months not being able to be worn because they “needed to be embroidered” so during the cold and wet season I had to work outside in a polo shirt which didn’t even fit me correctly and told to take off any jacket or jumper i wore because it “didn’t have a Pan logo on it”. both managers seem to always be on holiday and have said that none of the maintenance staff are trusted to be left to work without a manager (which is TERRIBLE for morale). considering they refuse to invest any time or effort in training us to their standard and one of them apparently has no time or interest in dealing with us at all, what’s the point? It is abundantly clear why the Maintenance department can’t keep an employee for longer than 6 months. No one should have to come into work stressed through the roof and have to deal with constant trash talking behind your back from one manager and the arrogance and entitlement of the other. I was warned by all of my co-workers when i started at Pan that this was what it was like and just like the 3 other employees in the last 4 months, I too fled to greener pastures. I did not enjoy my time at Pan Pacific which is a shame because apart from this department Pan was a great place to work. All of the workers where friendly and great to be around. HR was fantastic and very helpful and the staff housing is the best in Whistler, quality and price hands down. If you are considering a position at Pan Pacific for anything other than maintenance then I would recommend it 100% I just can not recommend working for the maintenance “team”.

Amazing Workplace with incredibly staff involved management
Working for the Pan Pacific in Whistler was by far one the best work experiences I have ever had. The management and employers care immensely for staff well being and goes out of their way to provide a safe and stable work place for their employees.
