Long hours, Low pay, No recognition for your work

I wouldn’t suggest working at Pacific West. Pacific West swamper is a low paying job that expects you to work 60+ Hours Mon-Friday as well as Saturday with no set end of day time. Nothing wrong with the company offering long hours, but I found the management of Pacific West to have zero respect for their hard working employees. Pacific West is the type of company that would rather fire you at 5pm on a Friday after a 60+ hour work week because you asked to take a break for the rest of the day. Low pay, Zero respect for hard working employees, No room for advancement with fair wages. There was a gentleman there who worked for Pacific west for 9 years and only made $1 more an hour than the new guy. Screwed up in my opinion but whatever makes money for the boss.

Definition of a toxic workplace

“Nothing will destroy a great employee faster than watching your employer tolerate and reward the bad ones.” This sums up Pacific West Systems Supply.

Hard work low pay. No care for safety.

Zero safety oriented work environment. Company thrives on giving employees overtime on low wages as the company profits on orders that need to go out at ridiculous times. If you like hard labour for 18-20 an hour this is your gig. Definitely not a career job. Management is terrible. Guys are great to work with but some just don’t have a care in the world because that’s how management treats them. Company has a very high margin of turnovers. I wonder if they ask themselves why.

This was a nice place to work . I enjoyed my time there . The job was fairly easy for me , the daily tasks weren't overwhelming hard . Given my tasks and left alone to complete them .

The staff is what makes pacwest enjoyable

I enjoyed my time at Pacwest because of the staff. Pacwest has a very old school work environment an culture, an a hand full of people that work there have bin with the company for many years. Depending on what department you are hired for will depend on the difficulty of the job, but for the most part it’s easy to learn but can be long hard hours at times. Pacwest has the potential to be an amazing place to work, but the pay for the industry isn’t all that great an the benefits suck. Their is favouritism an random bull that happens within the Calgary branch that really shouldn’t in a professional environment. All things considered, I would go back if given the right circumstances.
