I've been with Orkin for about a year now and absolutely love it, the money you can make is amazing and the team you work with is even better i really didn't think this would be the job for me but I can absolutely say I thought wrong.
great benefits, good salary, amazing bonuses if you work for it, good management
You deal with some rude accounts but what job doesnt.
Culture is an embarrassment! Management and Senior Management take zero responsibility or accountability for company deficiencies. Problems only rolls downhill at Orkin Canada. Head Office is operated similar to a high school clique that refuses accountability and endorses inappropriate relationships while rewarding fraudulent employees. Culture is toxic. Do not work for Orkin Canada.
Salary is horrible. 650/week plus they take out 120/month for your truck..... as if you even want to be driving that thing around anyways. You have to make the company 13,500 each month before you even get your 20% production commission. Basically you work like a dog and the company gets rich off you. I realized my efforts were better spent elsewhere.
National accounts are the biggest focus in this company that do not pay out for the Customer Service Representative dealing with that client. So much demand from the National accounts makes it hard for the CSR to do his route on a monthly basis unless they are willing to work 7 days a week to get the job done.
sales driven, no support for time off or holidays in remote locations. micromanaged to sell protection packages with poor commission return. reasonable health plan with a 2 year limited disability insurance.
Welcome to the corporate world. Management has an agenda and will do and say anything to pacify you and lead you into believing they are concerned about the culture and environment, but everything comes down to profit gains and management reaching their bonuses. There is zero support unless you can and do choose to maintain the facade. Question ethics or even procedures and you learn quickly how little you mean to this company and how quickly you can be replaced. Far too much time spent in this toxic environment. Do yourself a favour and take a hard pass.
management is out of the office frequently
