OPtrust will have a new CEO this week. After having 3 in the last 5 years. As the new CEO please address the culture and associations. Heads of three 3 departments need urgent change of leadership. Project Management, Member Experience and Systems development. The VP and Directors in each of these area contribute a distrustful place to work.

I worked here for just under a year and this organization has so many issues. The VP of member experience is underhanded and mangers choose to promote less qualified family and friends talk bad about other staff. This was not a good place to work and I feel bad for those who have to work there. I’m glad I had options, apparently some else left after only 3 months. Changes to management and executives in member experience are needed badly

Optrust held a information session lead by the VP of pension operations and her daughter on what’s happening in the United States. Rather then making the discussion about inclusion and understanding that Canada is more then just black and white. Other visible minority groups were left out and voices of those that have faced hardships was dismissed. It was about her and her community. How could the organization’s leadership authorization this lack of diversity. Canada is made up of more diverse groups change must be inclusive to all

The pressure on performance is very high, judgments an unfair tactics are used by middle management. Work life balance is a myth. The organization works you to the bone even in a pandemic driving people seeking medical help. They talk about diversity but it’s only black and white all other marginalized and racialized communities are treated like non-important. Diversity is about more then white and black way more

Executive and senior managers during a very stressful time for employees took it upon themselves to be opportunistic and hire more inexperienced mangers and friends. The organization especially Member and data groups are under massive stresses. Pressure on performance during Such a challenging time. The epidemic does not matter to senior and executive leadership. Team culture is at it worst levels. If you have no experience please apply your sure to get the job.

Many departments are on a downward spiral. Workloads continue to be high with mounting pressure. Middle management continues to show poor decision making. VP of pension department allows nepotism to come first before experience Client Services/Pension operations showing the most vulnerabilities

CEO announced a new alignment this week. With a mixed result bad to worst, signalling a change in executive leadership and re-alignment. Senior executives resigning and not returning, pension operations will face the biggest obstacles with its VP promoted to SVP. This was the worst of all (should have been the door on that one). Time will tell but as of now the grumbles are growing. We wait the additional fall out.

The introduction of new systems an epic failure! The organization seems to continue the push for enhanced automation but has failed miserably. Senior leadership can’t admit their failure. VP and directors of Member Experience and Project Delivery continue to make decisions that are failing.

Workload is extremely high with pressure on performance. The company needs new leadership in building a sustainable culture of collaboration. Union stands idle and watches nepotism and inexperienced promotions continue. Stewards work to help management not their members. Executive and middle managers need a complete overhaul. High volume and pressure environment.

Working for this organization for years. Please be aware that this is not the best place to work. Managers are very secretive and the culture is horrible. Promotions go to a select few that have family connections to managers. Hiring is also based on family relationships and is not based on experience. The organization needs new managers and executive leadership. Service delivery/member experience department is the worst of all. Don’t be fooled

Organization is managed by incompetent and rude executives and their close friends. All decisions are made on personal reasons and lavish benefits and compensation salaries are awarded on the personal criteria. Secrecy and intimidation is a norm.
Interest of members and pensioners are ignored.

Typical day included with opening the reception area.

Learned about OPTrust and what their goal is.


The management team was great and very supportive.


Co-workers were very helpful and fun to work with.


The hardest part of the job was when there was down time and all the tasks were completed.


Most enjoyable part was having the reception area busy with clients, meeting new people, and communicating with my co-workers.
