Poor Training
Options does not have an effective training plan. It is safe to say that there is little to no training plan. Seeking help from colleagues in regards to client’s needs (due to the lack of training) is apparently welcome, but it will not stop senior staff from gossiping about it afterwards amongst one another and management. Options has not created a space for many of the staff to feel comfortable to learn more, which in return would create stronger staff knowledge and broaden skills. This has been a very disappointing experience so far, as I have heard Options is a reputable agency in Calgary. It’s time to think twice about this agency.

Avoid this place unless you wanna get canned without cause
Some coworkers and clients are great, it’s management that’s the issue. Sadly tattletaling is promoted at Options and management will 9 times out of 10 believe those who snitch. People get let go for all sorts of stupid and unethical reasons here. Stay away from this place

Toxic Culture, Poor upper management
Working at Options was a good experience for the first month or two. To start on a positive note, the company allows their employees to have a healthy work/life balance, as well as paid Christmas vacation and stat days. Displayed on the outside, Options shows a promising and truthful image of their philosophy for the staff. However, due to poor upper management, this review has taken a turn for the worse. Upper management promotes a culture of "tattling" on fellow staff for very small reasons, such as leaving markers out.According to upper management, tattling is considered a "part of the staff's job objective". This creates a toxic environment among staff, making them feel like they can not trust one another. Secondly, Options has developed a reputation for firing staff "without cause" over the years. Options started out the New Year by firing 3/5 long-term supervisors without prior warnings given. This does not only affect the staff, but it affects clients the most. These impulsive actions leaves clients with feelings of distress, and puts a hefty workload on the two supervisors left. Thirdly, upper management relies on "senior staff" (a small group of frontline workers who have worked at the Day Program for 2+ years), to send feedback on new staff's performances and will take their "observations" as the truth. Upper management refuses to walk around the Day Program to form "observations" with their own eyes. Relying on senior staff creates a culture of gossip into the workplace, further separating a company's need for a strong team.

Its okay to work if your just applying for frontline work (CRW2). Management however, is treated quite poorly. Undervalued, Undermined. Payed poorly. Senior management/CEO/HR lousy role models.

Enjoyable and supportive team
An enjoyable work environment where one is free to express themselves.
