Adopt Zero Tolerance for Violence. Support workers who have experienced trauma on the job. Create a culture of joint accountability between staff and patients.
Give front line staff their holidays. You deny staff vacation requests and shift changes constantly and wonder why your sick time is so high.
Involve front line staff in a meaningful way when making changes to practice. Stop having someone who sits in an office all day decide how a nurse on the floor will do his or her job.
