It was a great place to work the store was always busy the customers were great we were in a mall in a great location upper management was really nice staff that work there were great and everybody got along just well
Great place to work
Had to as about weekends off
laid off large percentage of workforce due to COVID-19 and 2 days later the company was ordered into receivership. Executive Management team does not appreciate staff, no collaborative culture. No direction or coaching provided from Executive Managment -- dictate of what to do and when. Stressful environment.
If an opportunity to work here presents itself, don’t walk away.... Run away. The culture is designed around a year end bonus that is pre-determined. Then throughout the year, they look for ways to penalize you to take the bonus away from you, a little at a time. If you are late (even 1 minute) for your shift, you are penalized. If you make an administration error, any little thing, another penalty. I creates a bizarre and toxic culture to work in.
Cutthroat to the extreme. Fear based culture, crisis management, constant staff turnover, zero loyalty, daily brainwashing, preying on new employees starstruck desperation, eventually even the strongest characters become beat down.

Horrible place to work. Competitive unfriendly environment, manager is lazy, leaves early everyday, makes everyone do everything for her and takes credit for it. This company is very disorganized, very demanding even for a part time and the pay is minimal. They will make you work extra non paid hours. Head office has "barbecue day" every week while the staff at stores who are really working hard to make the sales are ignored. Don't expect a Christmas dinner for your store team! Do yourself a favor and do not waste your precious time with this company that does not recognize the real hard working people.
Free clothes that you will never wear out of work
Low pay, unrealistic expectations, unfriendly commission based environment
Competitive environment where managers collect all commission and clothes credits. Assistant manager and manager have full control over sales. Everything goes to them. Lack of training, pressure to do way more than you are supposed to- all managers paperwork, doing stock daily, flipping falls, moving all merchandise... I feel like I am just a number not a person. The moment they do not need you or feel like you do not fit anymore- they get rid of you. DO NOT WORK HERE.
Fun place to work, very generous discount and clothing allowance. Always new merchandise coming in. Company offers benefits and flexible hours. Company welcomes ideas and input from all staff typical day, serving customers helping them with their purchases hardest part of the job, juggling schedules for staff availability Most enjoyable part of the job: seeing how happy the ladies are with their purchases.
Great customers, manager who works along side you and explains everthing
there is none
We did the usual work for a womans apparel store and should have been paid MORE. The most enjoyable part of my job as a amanager was doing out of store events. Would have liked MORE support from HO on organizing them.
lovely work environment
long hours for management
If you are self motivated, it can be a great place to work depending on SR Exec you report to. I was giving many opportunities to take on different challenges. But as a former peer said, you need to watch how close you get to the sun.
Highly motivated people can make a difference but very demanding
Long hours & poor culture
This is the worst company I have ever worked for. I regret accepting the job I held at their head office. NYGARD has an abusive, unethical, unprofessional and corrupt culture within every single department. They break every possible employment law and they continue to get away with it.
Unpaid overtime is expected on a regular basis for non management roles, below industry standard pay, bonuses are falsely promised, poor leadership and management, employment standards are sub-par
It has been more than 10 years I work in a customer service filed . I learned a lot, To be a part of management I learned how to manage your co worker as friendly team, to make sure the job should be done in a friendly environment . How to be productive. The most enjoyable part of job is to meet different type of people every day and deal with them in their own way to make them happy.
