Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedContent of the work is alright and the coworkers are great, but management it terrible. As hard as you try to be organized and communicate you just can't get on top of things because management is not organized and does not communicate well. You are constantly given last minute tasks to complete that could have been assigned earlier and then told it's your fault when they aren't done on time. The pay is not competitive and reviews and raises get forgotten. The company makes a lot of promises that they don't keep and is very old school with refusal to get with the times. Until management changes I do not recommend working here.

Great place to work
Analyst (Current Employee) - 2000 ellesmere rd - 5 November 2022
Great work environment , not a high turnover rate as a large amount of people working here have been here for years if not their entire career. Coworkers are nice and the 9-5 work schedule is a plus

Interesting Work and Lots of Experience to gain
Analyst (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 20 September 2022
Work is pretty varied. Lots of samples come in from different companies and you test them against a set of methods. Each product has different methods so there's a lot of variety. If you are good at your work, you get the harder samples. The job is a 9 to 5. If you have a test that runs a bit long, you stay to finish, but that's usually the exception and you get overtime for this. The company is pretty stable and a lot of the people I work with have been there for a long time. The same goes for management. People are generally fine. I haven't had any issues with the people that I work with.

Good Place to Work!
Analytical Chemist (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 27 April 2022
I've worked at a few different places as a scientist, and this is probably the best one. There's a lot of stability and you don't see people leave too often. If somebody makes it past 1 or 2 years, they are usually around for 20. It's a contract lab so you basically test product for hundreds(?) of companies, which means there's a lot of variety in the work that you do but you're following specific directions that you can't change. Management is generally OK. Some people are better than others for organizing things and communicating (some are pretty blunt), but everybody more or less gets along. There is definitely pressure to perform and work fast. I haven't really seen anybody playing favorites - work gets assigned based on what you spend most of your time doing. That being said, more cross training in other areas would be nice. Workplace culture is generally good - again a lot of people have been there for a really long time. I've never seen any layoffs even when things get slow. Advancement is a bit different. You don't get different job titles unless you get promoted to a completely different job (analyst to management). All analysts won't be doing the same thing or working on the same equipment. You'll have the same title even though the work that you're doing could be pretty different from what the person on the bench next to you is doing. Work/Life balance is good. It's Monday to Friday from 9 to 5. Rarely, I have to stay late to finish a project that has a longer runtime, but it doesn't happen often and you get overtime for that.

Consider this company as your pit stop to gain experience
Analyst (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 8 June 2020
Nucro-technics is a good company to obtain experience and to become well-versed on different laboratory techniques, that otherwise, you wouldn't have the opportunity to learn in a regular lab.
Most of the employees have been there for their entire life, including management, so changes are not much appreciated.
At first, you will be trained on very simple testing techniques. After that and if management likes you, you will get trained in a lot of different tests, but if you are not that lucky, you will be stuck with a few things for as long as you are there.
There is an annual performance review, but you won't see your salary increase by the load of work that you do. They will use any excuse to increase your salary poorly.
My advice, use this company as your pit stop, learn as much as you can, and leave when you see that there isn't anything else that you can learn. I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than 4 years.

Decent place to work at first...
Analyst (Former Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 7 June 2020
Nucro-Technics is a pharmaceutical contract lab that tests the quality of various products, so there are naturally lots of techniques and skills to learn. If you are a fresh graduate this is a good place to start your experience, as long as you can endure the abuse. During the first few months you will be micromanaged to the extent that you will begin to question even the simplest of things. This period may vary depending on how well you get along with the supervisor. Once trained on a few things, you will be overloaded with more than you can comfortably completely and will likely end up staying late (you begin to receive OT after 45 mins - anything less is free labour). After most of the roles for specific tests have two or more analyst trained, you will have a hard-pressed time trying to get training on any other tests. You will be asked to sign Deviation Reports that may not have been your fault, but your name will be attached. These will likely be used against you during your annual performance review. The lunch room is tiny, not enough space for lunches in the fridges, and people steal food on multiple occasions! Not enough parking spots for all employees. Also make sure to keep your pay stubs and check the math...

Good place to start
Analyst (Former Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 6 June 2020
It's a good place to gain experience and learn different tests and procedures. However the amount you learn would depend on how much management likes you. If you ask to be trained on something, you would only see someone else get the training.
Although there are various tests being performed, you'd likely be stuck doing only one or two (if you're lucky, three) of them and only occasionally doing something different. Also people don't get the same workload. If you work faster, be prepared to be overloaded.
Anyhow, it is a decent place to start and would help you find your next job.

great place for experience
Analyst (Former Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 5 June 2020
Great company to get your foot into pharma industry (esp co-op term). Learn as much as you can (ie. tests and procedures). Do not specifically ask to get trained on anything because management will do the exact opposite - if you keep your mouth shut you might be lucky enough to learn all the tests but be prepared to be overloaded! No room for growth - management is resistant to change. If you like to be micromanaged, then this is the perfect place for you. If you have great ideas that will help improve productivity or efficiency - forget about it! not much transparency between management and analysts. Overall values are archaic not to mention equipment used. No incentive to work harder because raise is only adjusted based on cost of living if youre lucky!

Great place to start working for experience but underpaid and overworked
Analyst (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 3 June 2020
Nucro is a great place if you are a new grad and need job experience, however, my suggestion is you stay a few years then start looking. There is limited opportunity for growth: professionally (management stunts your growth) and financially (company is cheap with yearly raises).
Some work days can be overwhelming with the work load that you are required to finish in 8 hours. There is a difference in multi-tasking and stretching yourself too thin and when you make a mistake because of all the work they will 100% blame the analyst.
Management loves to micromanage, rude and pick and choose when to care about their employees concerns. They do not like to train analysts on everything, or even base it off of experience - if a supervisor does not like you you will not be trained.
Positives? Getting lots of lab experience and meeting nice people (other analysts).
Pros
Getting job experience
Cons
Micromanagement, underpaid, stressful

Jobs at Nucro-Technics
Rude and dictatorship
rather not to mention (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 30 May 2020
The management for the department i am working at is crazy and rude. Be prepared to get constant bullyed, disrespection and unprofessional treatment. The work load is not bad but lack of scheduling. Nobody knows what to expect the next day. You will be told what to do only in the morning and be expected to finish everything within that day no matter what. Raise is mininum no matter how well your performance is.
Pros
Nice christmas dinner
Cons
You pay your own ensurance and you pay for the manegement too, it is very expensive even if you only be covered by the short-term/long term dissibilities.

A big facade
Analyst (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 14 May 2020
The fisrt impresion is that this will be the best place to work, and believe me I know that place do not exist but you can hope for a comfortable and comprehensive one at least. After a short while then you'll soon learn that the reality is very different, the company has a big micromanagment problem at all levels, starting by the uper managment micromanaging the directors and supervisors and that of course wil translate on the supervisors micromanaging the analyst at a very high level even to the point of disrespect and bullying. Doesn't matter how much experience you bring to the table your reccomendation or suggestions are never taken into account, even when are valid. As per training goes the place has a lot of possibilities for lerning different techniques and a variety of test but intead of training analyst on everything they has some analyst stock of basic test for long time, when you ask to get train then the training never happens

poor management, unstable workplace, disorganized,
Microbiologist (Former Employee) - Microbiologist - 20 September 2018
Do not respect people personality, more hiring firing, communication, they have micromanagement. There is no any chance to showcase your skills and experience.
Pros
location in GTA
Cons
micromanagement, disorganized work place, poor management

Productive and fun workplace
Chemist (Current Employee) - Scarborough, ON - 29 July 2018
Nice place to work having day shift Monday to Friday regular work. Typical laboratory minded people. Seems stable based on track records of operation and employee head count.
