Great Co-workers
Casual Ward Clerk (Former Employee) - Nova Scotia - 9 May 2023
Great place to work. Hard to get a full time position which makes it hard to schedule life with kids. Management can be touch and go best for the most part a happy place to work.

Interesting research projects
Research Assistant (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 9 March 2023
Interesting job, good compensation, but can be slow and way too relaxed. Really depends on your manager and a team you are working with. Overall - not bad.

ok but short staffed. Great benefits. Vacation time hard to get and most times refused.
LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) (Current Employee) - Nova Scotia - 4 March 2023
Working at NSHA is ok but always short staffed, heavy workload and vacation refusals are common. Not sure who is getting the hiring bonuses because none was offered to me.

Poor pay short staff
Casual RN (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 26 December 2022
Coorperate heavy management and short staffing low wages in comparison to other provinces, low value of staff unless management. Management culture protects each other therefore if challenged references could be compromised in province sadly
Pros
Steady work and OT opportunities
Cons
Poor growth for frontline, heavy emphasis on credentials rather than experience

Don't believe them - run away
Front Line Staff (Former Employee) - Sydney, NS - 11 December 2022
Workplace culture is toxic, short staffed and Management loves this as it saves them $$; by doubling current staffs' workload. Management will not support you even though during interviews they will promise you the sun and the stars and future support. They will not tell you the truth, and won't recognize your previous experience nor are they open to any new ideas of improvement. When they have you, they will treat you like an indentured servant and make you as miserable as their current staff (who are great but trapped in a toxic work environment); Managers figure you won't leave if you bought a house or have family ties, etc.. They advertise "Come from Away" but my advice is to run away.
Pros
none
Cons
short staffed, workers have no voice, no workalike balance, lower pay than other provinces

Very welcoming workplace

Everyone working there is fantastic, supportive, and very easy to work alongside. Nonjudgmental, and always smiling. I would recommend to any CCA, Lpn, or RN. Great bunch of workers!
Pros

Hard and severe burn out
Covid Screener (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 26 October 2022
Patients were super rude and abused staff, when managers were notified they did nothing to help protect their employees. A lot of internal drama between staff and higher ups and definitely a high-school feel to how they operate

Liked the people, but it wasn't for me
Health Care Worker (Former Employee) - Truro, NS - 8 October 2022
Staff were great, but we were understaffed which made it stressful. Didn't experience issues with management myself but everyone else seemed to. Not a lot of senior staff which contributed to stressful atmosphere

Don't even think about working here
CTA (Former Employee) - Kentville, NS - 24 September 2022
Staff lies if they don't like you. Manager makes up lies to let you go. If casual you better pick up every shift as they will say if you don't you get fired. Bad management and toxic work place
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Too much to write

Great Place to work
Continuing Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Windsor, NS - 6 May 2022
Once hired the on boarding can take some time. HR is slow to communicate. But, once orientation starts its worth it! As with any workplace there can be drama amongst staff and some power struggles but we all work as a team and the unit I'm on the co-workers are like a second family. Pay rate is above average and lots of chances to pick up over time if you want it. Management isn't great at communication with staff but it is something that's being worked on. I will say with the many years of work experience I have it's the best place I've worked and the health benefits and pension are amazing compared to others I've had.
Pros
Great health benefits, great co-workers
Cons
Slow hiring process, poor communication from management

fast paced, flexible hours
Booking and Registration Clerk (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 25 March 2022
I enjoyed the fast paced ever changing environment, supervisor was pleasant and approachable. The downside was the non working chairs or available basic office supplies, the air quality, dirty floors. Workplace culture was different, some senior permanent staff didn't seem helpful or friendly. Most enjoyable was helping people book their appointments.

Pros
Job secure
Cons
Stressful long hour

Management is clueless. You’re just a number in the system
Occupational Therapist (Former Employee) - Nova Scotia - 5 February 2022
Poor management, poor pay. Hierarchy is clear and folks are not treated as equal or competent. Don’t expect any training in person, all don’t online with dated presentations.
Pros
Job security and benefits
Cons
Poor management, poor communication, lack of training and guidance

Terrible place to work
Registered Nurse (RN) (Current Employee) - Windsor, NS - 17 January 2022
I have worked for NSHA for many years ansits slides downhill every year. Managers don’t care about there employees only there own professional advancement. There is no such thing as patient centered care. Non existent relationships between floors. Constant revolving doors of employees.
Pros
Benefits and pension
Cons
Poor pay, expensive licensing and non existent union, uncaring management, poor work environment, non existent patient experience. And poor relationships between floors.

Good place
LPN (Current Employee) - Halifax, NS - 30 November 2021
Not bad place to work but management are too uptight and on a power trip they only hire who they want no how good you do on your interview you never give them what they want to hear not a fair competition for some people
Pros
Good co-workers
Cons
Managers
