  • To get hired within you have to know someone or forget it. I know of people that had no experience got hired by knowing someone there compared to some with experience. I know of 2 people that were hired in same department with no experience but knew the same supervisor and one is relative. Its more of family hiring family.
    How is that fair. What is the reason for people to go through school when it isn't what you know its who you know!

  • The NSHA promotes that they have a great work-life balance. This works out on paper but ultimately you will take home your stress from the poisonous atmosphere that the managers create. The other managers that I worked with cried on a daily basis after meeting with directors and other managers. Surely, this is not how someone should work or live the rest of their life. The strong allure of a great paying job with benefits and security is not worth your soul. Management is fearful of anyone who is educated or has a different opinion. The best way to make it in this business is to smile and nod and bottle up any issues you may have. If you are in a position where you are not a manager, I would stay in that position rather than making the transition for those reasons. Management seems to never know what is going on. The day consists of much stop-go-stop-go in terms of what projects to advance. You are in Skype meetings for half the day talking about literally nothing -- recapping the sheer amount of nothing that you did that week because your manager did not give you the information nor the resources to complete your duties. Honestly, for a place that is supposed to be sympathetic to people with needs, it is an inverted pyramid at the top. Stay away. (Unless you want to be a nurse/ social worker/other allied health care provider and genuinely love doing that job itself). Lastly, many of the directors that I have encountered are textbook examples of sociopaths. They will grill you for your work while smiling and almost enjoy the suffering they inflict upon their subordinate managers. And they are usually the least educated out of everyone. The directors are cutthroat people who just wanted to climb the ladder. Not infrequently have I been in a Skype meeting where my fellow managers were shut down and cried in front of an entire district. Seriously. I left because I was not going to subject myself to it anymore. I find that women tend to put up with this more than men as well and are hesitant to complain to anyone and bottle it up. Everyone sees the issues but noone says anything to HR about it because everyone is fearful that they will be the next victim in the poisonous atmosphere. There, have I said enough?

    Areas are out of luck . Making the workplace very difficult and moral is poor
