Just dont
Wanna work somewhere where good is never enough and all you have to do is be buddy buddy with management to shirk responsibility? Then this is the place for you. Where pointing fingers is more effective then digging down to the root cause of the problem. I started out loving this place but between nepotism and dictator like enforcement of covid protocols (which is fine to am extent but you are literally toying with people's livelihood) if you are going to "heavily" enforce these policies make sure that all employees, management included, adhere to them. You just create a double standard, constantly

Fulfilling place to work
I have worked for Northstar for over 5 years. I enjoy the atmosphere and the positive interactions I have with my Co workers. Yes the pace is high and there is alot going on but we work as a team to get the job completed. For those people who have a good work ethic and a willingness to make sure every customer is taken care of, this is the place to work. Management has always treated me fairly and with respect. If I have an issue, I can count on my manager to help me.

The Northstar Auto Group Team is a Family
Waking up every morning with a huge smile on my face knowing that I get to come into a workplace that I love and have the opportunity to meet new people everyday and help work with them to find the perfect vehicle to suit their needs in a price point that works for their budget has given me a new zest for life.I feel so completely blessed to be part of the Northstar Auto Group Family. It is challenging and rewarding. It has so many moving parts and when they all work together it is magical.I continue to grow and learn every day. When I joined the Northstar Auto Group in November or 2019 I had absolutely zero experience in the automotive industry. I was welcomed with open arms by all departments and was so impressed with the training program. I continue to be supported regularly and through all the trials and tribulations that we have suffered through as a community with both the flood and then all the Covid 19 restrictions I can honestly say that I couldn't be prouder to have been part of the Gold Standard Policies that Northstar Auto Group implemented to ensure not only my safety but also the safety of our clients. As a long term resident of Fort McMurray it is also extremely important to me to support local. Having the opportunity of working for a locally owned and operated business with such deep roots in the community is something that I hold very near and dear to my heart. If you are interested in being part of building something great and are able and willing to learn in a fast paced and energetic atmosphere where automotive experience isn't necessary and sales experience is an asset I would highly recommend joining the Northstar Auto Group Family.

Hard Work Pays Off
I've been with North Star going on 4 years now. I've seen people thrive here and I've seen people fail here. The common denominator for the people who are successful is their level of GRIT. The kind of people who would always bend down and touch the line when running a suicide, regardless of whether or not the coach was watching. The ones who don't cut a corner when doing laps around a soccer field. It's not necessarily the people who are the smartest or most vivacious who thrive here, but the people who take pride in seeing tasks through and doing things right. Mistakes are forgiven when you make them going 100 km/hr giving your all for the team. For sales specifically, you need to have an internal locus of control, meaning you believe that you control your own destiny. The weather, inventory mix, amount of customers doesn't determine your level of success, your effort level does. The people who fail aren't necessarily bad people, but more often than not they don't have that same tenacity to strive to grow and become something better than what they were when they started here. When things get tough they quit. Not just this job but in most aspects of their lives. They are people who care about work life balance over advancing their careers. Not saying that's wrong but it's not for me and it certainly isn't for North Star. If that sounds like you, move on to the next job posting and thanks for reading this far. For the sales department, people who look at external factors as excuses for their outcomes nearly always fail. They don't take ownership of their role and blame everything, except themselves. Before coming to North Star I heard it referred to as "North Star University" due to the level of learning management offers and opportunity for advancement the company offers. The alumni who have left North Star to start their own dealerships or automotive related businesses is astounding. There's no other dealership in North America like it. I learn new things every day and become better every day with the help of managers and coaching that upper management offers.Ownership walks the walk. The CEO isn't the kind of guy who tells you what to do all day having never lived each role himself. He started the business from nothing and is usually answering emails back to me well before I'm even awake. I know a lot of people who have success in their life and go on autopilot into the rest of their lives. This guy is not that guy. He is hands on everyday and actively tries to play a role in you finding success within the organization as well as in your personal life. He takes tremendous joy in seeing people succeed and achieve their goals.

Productive and positive work environment with great people and a great product
I have been a member of the Sales Team at the Calgary location for over 8 years and have been given every tool to succeed. Coworkers are competent and management is great to work with. Everyone is friendly and works together as a team. If you show up, work hard and try your very best, they've got you! They also have great company benefits. If your looking for a work place that will challenge you to become a better version of yourself and put a smile on your face, look no further.
