Insights into Norseman
What people like

Down to earth top management
Full time employee (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 18 January 2021
The top management should really review the competencies of the people down the line. Mistakes are written on stone and are used as weapons to demoralize the employees on a daily basis. I am sure that the two big brothers on the top would like to listen to the solutions suggested by low-level employees, but how do they reach them? About COVID-19 layoff: I was laid off from the company without any notice. The lay off letter says the reason as COVID-19, but I expected a respectful way of laying me off. I believe COVID19 was just an excuse. No regrets though.
Pros
Great top management. Many professional, dedicated and talented people.
Cons
Unprofessional mangers in the middle management level.

Great company, kind owners, good management.
Senior Marketing Specialist (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 30 September 2020
I had the pleasure of working at Norseman and the team was fantastic. While the work can be a bit slow at times everyone from colleagues to management to owners actually care about the team. Turn over there is almost non-existent as people genuinely like working there as they are treated well and respected.
Pros
Good pay, good benefits, respectful management
Cons
Nothing really.

Fun work place but very unorganized and unprofessional
Bilingual CSR/receptionist (Former Employee) - Holland Landing, ON - 16 March 2018
unprofessional place to work at. I was not happy with the unprofessionalism and the way they expected everyone to do 100 different jobs and get under paid for their actual job....

Jobs at Norseman
Productive and fun workplace
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Holland Landing, ON - 7 April 2016
Everyone i worked with was very friendly and easy to work with. We all had our differences and sometimes nothing in common but we all worked great together and had a huge understanding of each other.
The management was leaned back and easy going, but when needed to they would put their foot down. They would buy us cake on our birthdays and we would have long bbq lunches once in a while. They made it a want to come to work not a need.
The job itself wasnt hard but it was the stress that came with it. Things would break down or we would create a lot of re-work caused by machines not running smoothly. No matter how hard we worked we would still be behind sometimes especially in the last season. Things were really slow and there was a lot of frustration in the atmosphere.
Nevertheless it was a very good experience that i appreciate so much in having. I learned how to be a team leader and improvise to create solutions for more production and better moral.
Pros
Free bbq once or twice a month
Cons
Minimal promotions

Team player company
Senior Purchaser (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 2 May 2014
This company is very diverted with 5 warehouses / manufactures across Canada. We have weekly operation meeting by teleconferences in between all plants to make sure we maximize information for all.
Typical weekly duties are running MRP and analyzing and confirming requirements with suppliers.
Review on regular base safety stocks levels as products are seasonal and we don't want to sit on big inventories.
Track orders to make sure they meet production requirement dates and advise parties of any back order situations.
Enter all cost related to purchase of goods such as freight, customs and duty to have am accurate landed cost
Source products for our R&D dept.
Negotiate prices, contract and freight.
