Great first job, but that's all
Produce Clerk (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 11 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt's a great place to start when leaning work ethic a skills for life but after 6 months it goes stagnant and you learn almost nothing. Some managers are terrible and don't care about major issues unless its dragging them down too. Short staffed to the point where random clerks or cashiers have to push carts
Pros
hour worth of break for 8&1/2 hour shifts
Cons
What day's/hours you work are always random, raises are only given to those close close with the owner or gm

Physical job
Produce Clerk (Part Time) (Current Employee) - Etobicoke, ON - 6 October 2023
Good for earning money on the side. Physically demanding job. Employment is secured as long as you do your job. No promotion can be expected unless other people resign which is very unlikely.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
No progress

good work as compare to other
Helper (Former Employee) - Surrey, BC - 27 September 2023
A Typical Day at Work: A typical workday can vary widely depending on the job and industry. It often involves tasks, meetings, and deadlines, with a focus on completing assigned responsibilities efficiently. What I Believe You Learned: What you learn at work depends on your role and goals. It could include technical skills, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and industry-specific knowledge. Management: Effective management is crucial for a productive workplace. Good managers provide guidance, support, and clear expectations to their teams, helping them achieve their goals. Workplace Culture: Workplace culture sets the tone for the organization. A positive culture promotes collaboration, innovation, and employee well-being, while a toxic culture can hinder productivity and job satisfaction. The Hardest Part of the Job: The most challenging aspect of a job can vary from person to person. It might involve dealing with difficult colleagues, meeting tight deadlines, handling stress, or tackling complex problems. The Most Enjoyable Part of the Job: Job satisfaction often comes from achieving goals, working on meaningful projects, and having supportive colleagues. The most enjoyable part of a job is usually what aligns with your passions and interests.

Chill and flexible
Produce Clerk (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 19 September 2023
Great and flexible for students. I loved the fact that It worked with my schedule and colleagues were pretty chill. It can be physically demanding as you're always standing but its chill as in you work alone most of the time.

Good first job
Grocery Stocker (Current Employee) - North York, ON - 10 September 2023
Good place to start if you need some money. Coworkers can be good to work with but two managers there don't have the work ethic that they expect from everyone else. Hours can be inconsistent especially during slow seasons
Pros
Friendly coworkers
Cons
Inconsistent hours, managers that don't work

For a job as a student it was not terrible, but would never go back.
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Londonderry, ON - 21 August 2023
For a job as a student it was not terrible. However, the culture and environment of the workplace was not positive or uplifting most days; but there was always a few staff and customers that made it bearable. The tasks and duties asked of certain staff were also drastically different for the same job title, some staff did nothing and got praised where others worked super hard and got looked past.
Pros
Short shifts
Cons
Unfair workloads

not a great place to work
Clerk (Former Employee) - Spruce Grove, AB - 14 August 2023
tons of favouritism(ie. rules don’t apply to everyone), inconsistent hours, working to your breaking point and getting paid the bare minimum, very unfair when it comes to scheduling. only good thing, getting paid weekly

Easy work, low pay, terrible supervisor, it's an owners union
Grocery Stocker (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 31 July 2023
Real easy work with a casual environment but I had a terrible supervisor. Flexible on hours which is very good. The union is an absolute joke and the workers would be better off without it. The union is 100% in the pocket of the employer.
Pros
easy work

Pros
Flexible schedule every week
Cons
Minimum wage is not enough nowadays.

No room for growth
Cashier (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 12 July 2023
I worked there for over a year as a cashier. Initially it was enjoyable because there was lots of things that I had where I could learn how to do them, but after about six months the job just got so boring. There’s no room to really grow within the company, so you’re stuck with a minimum wage job unless you’re looking to make an extra .50$ in the cash office. It was nice to get customer service and money handling experience, but that’s basically it.
Pros
free food sometimes
Cons
boring

Stressful enough
Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) - Leduc, AB - 4 July 2023
What I really liked about this job , many people with no experience including students got hired which gives a chance for everyone to apply. Really flexible schedule but not stable hours. Unfair environment from supervision.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
Stressful environment

Lacking compassion, understanding and empathy
Cash Office Supervisor/Cashier/Bakery stocker/Grocery stocker (Former Employee) - Beaumont, AB - 23 June 2023
Management is rude, plays favourites and the pay for what you’re asked to do is ridiculously low. 15$/hour to do managements work and paper work is not fair nor worth the effort. Don’t bother wasting your time here
Pros
Free Christmas party
Cons
Long hours, sucky management

No benefits always different shifts
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 4 June 2023
2 months of working there never heard a good job or thank you also they don’t follow their own company policy nor enforce them either. Some nice co workers and many not so friendly. Poor communication poor people skills if you like shift work and min wage they you will like this job and heavy lifting also you may be the supervisor or key holder but not be giving the status you still be just a clerk
Cons
No benefits

easy to get job but overwhelming
Cashier (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 31 May 2023
pretty easy to obtain the job, but in the end, it’s not worth it. got the job on the same day of the interview, went through three days of training with three tests, they expect too much from you ie: expect you to be able to work everyday of the week for ungodly hours even if you’re a part time employee, expects you to know how to do every role properly, know what each button on the cash register is even if they don’t teach you it.. poor management, refused to help, aggressive, accusatory, upset over everything. the only nice one is the owner of the nofrills if you decide to work at nofrills, i highly suggest to NOT be a cashier. it’s too overwhelming and too stressful. it’s not worth it.
Pros
paid breaks
Cons
long hours, poor management

Fun workplace. Meeting lots of different people along the way.
Costumer service is a key as your dealing with all kinds of people all day everyday. The cashiers are all kind and we work together to help each other out.
Pros
Benefits are available after doing so many hrs .

fun workplace
Grocery Stocker (Former Employee) - London, ON - 17 May 2023
I worked here when I was 15 making student wage, only 13/hr at the time. The pay was quite bad looking back but I made lots of friends in the workplace.
Pros

Cons

Favourite job so far been there for 4 years.
Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) - Wallaceburg, ON - 10 May 2023
One of the best places I’ve worked. Honestly it’s my managers and a few co-workers that make it such a great work place. The work itself is easy as long as you have a decent memory (for the 100+ 4 digit produce codes) and are a people person. Can be fast paced and if you’re sensitive or easily flustered, it may not be for you. If you’re an easygoing talkative people person who does well under pressure you’ll probably enjoy yourself. Scheduling is a little weird compared to other places I’ve worked but they’re good for time off.
Pros
Great environment, occasional free food
Cons
Not many hours
