Decent job, work life balance not so much

Management changes a lot so this can be difficult, as new management comes and goes processes are changed frequently. You do feel like a number if you are not one of the higher ups. They do not support employees with chronic pain/illness. Pay does not increase without union strike threats. They are very behind when it comes to work life balance, working remotely should be an option for employees that can do their jobs this way, most other government agencies are offering this option now. This place was decent when I started years ago, now not so much.

Well this is my posting, and I quit after 20 years. Draw your own conclusions. Dead end job unless you have PHD to move around, in the end you're just a number.

Good place to work

Good pay and benifits. There is a chance to grow within the company. Easy to move around from one home to another. Yearly reimbursement if one is going to school for further study.

Great place to work

What is the best part of working at the company?Benefits, paid time off, and tuition reimbursement. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Chances for advancement depend solely on having the exact education posted for any positions. The region doesn’t take into account working experience. I believe your work experience depends on your immediate supervisor. If your supervisor is a good leader than you will have much success and enjoyment with your job. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?I can only speak to my department but I felt supported.

Heavy work load, disorganized leadership

You never saw management as someone who worked night shift. The lack of support and communication from management created distain amount at the staff team

good place to work, pay and benefits are good.

Great coworkers that care and support clients and each other. Stressful workplace, managers micro manage or are absent managers, little support. Typical government too many managers/supervisors and not enough actual workers for the client support that is needed.

Steady work

You won't get a good job or be promoted unless you're related or know someone. They prefer to go outside instead of train and promote , usually friends or family. Wages are basic no good contract for 10 years.

Pros

Good hours

Cons

Just a number

Pension

Toxic culture. 4 Managers, 2 Supervisors, 3 acting Supervisors and amble staffing changes over 15 years and the culture never changed from toxic. It's just their business model.

Pros

Pension

Cons

Too many to list

It was an okay place to work.

I worked here for a year. I was forced to resign due to the fact that I was going back to school and they couldn't accommodate my leave of absence. Other than that, the place is okay.

Great place to work

Great benefits, pension and ok pay. Great employer to start and retire with. My coworkers in the sector I work in are great, which makes it even more enjoyable.Only downside is slow paced work.

Difficult clients typical of government benefits

Portfolio of five large multi-residential complexes. Difficult clients and too much workload. Manager was demanding and critical of jobs she had no knowledge of. Asked to do jobs outside the scope of the position. Typical of income assisted housing demands. I was never recognized for the hard work, organizational abilities and cost savings I facilitated. Pay was far too low for a licenced tradesperson. Benefits and pension were good. Using my own vehicle as a work vehicle was a huge drawback.

Absolutely love the clients I serve and the co-workers I have but Management are corrupt and oppressive

You get threatened with termination if you take 5 sick days in a year In my department I had to work an entire year without any vacation days The employer is the least flexible or compassionate in terms of accommodating work life balance or disability needs that I have ever worked forThere are 10 times the amount of overpaid managers than are needed in every department and they micro manage every single employee to the point the employee just leavesManagement here is like when I worked in a call center (the worst!)When I first started the region was able to retain employees until retirement but now due to all the toxic oppressive inflexible management practices we lost more than 40% of our entire staff in 1 year and we are so understaffed and over worked still because of this loss in staffIf you want to be appreciated and treated like a human being that matters don't work here!

Good

Good futures, pension and benefits , and good job security. Union, company paid education, and the way the people talk like they are your friends makes it a great work environment

A nice place to work.

Nice place, friendly environment. The residents are nice and friendly. Great discounts on car insurance. No extended health benefits though for casual employees. All in all I had fun working here.

Overworked, Understaffed, underappreicated

PSW's are constantly short staffed & even with regular staff the resident to staff ratio is not good on all shifts which makes it difficult to provide care how you would want to.

Nice place

Great place to work for, the only down side is not having enough scheduled hours if you are not a full timer.. Management is very good, nurses are always helpful, for the most part…
