Long Wait for FT

Be prepared to wait years before landing a FT role with respectable hours. You will have to start out as a casual employee saying yes to shifts all the time to build seniority.

Has gone down tremendously

Bad staffing, managers do not seem to care about their staff, patients just put in rooms that are free, inappropriate patient placement. Slow in getting new wages in

Was very stressful at times

Not enough staff - didn't always get a break - worked a lot of hours with no days off. Always short staffed. Full-time schedule was terrible. We tried to change it but they denied our request.

Pros

Nice Staff

Cons

Not enough pay

Niagar health is not safe.

There are better hospitals out there. Didn't realize how bad niagara health was till I moved and started work somewhere else. They put patients, staff at risk. They put the care in careless!!

Pros

Co workers were great.

Cons

Management and leadership are only out for themselves

Was great and missed it when I left!

Really enjoyed working at NH! Very busy place to work, but felt like it was important work. I left number of year ago but my coworkers were great, and I'd go back any time.

Amazing people and management in Pharmacy

Very developed pharmacy, co-workers and management are amazing. When i will have chance i will return back there. Hospital new and bright. A lot of experience can be given. Management very supportive, co-workers just best ones i have ever met

Pros

Cons

hard to get days off

Supportive and good orientation length

Seniority is big deal without considering work experience when it comes to assignments. Not open to new ideas and suggestions on evidence based practice but stick to this is how we do it here mentality

good people, odd circumstances

most of the screeners I was with were friendly, helpful, and accommodating to changing hours/schedules. The scheduling system for the NHS is horrible, however. Some higher-ups were kind and helpful, some were quite unresponsive. Overall fun easy job with flexibility but the scheduling system is horrible and some higher-ups weren't as good as they should be.

Busy but rewarding

Great place to work. Benefits amazing. Definitely hard work and busy shifts but that comes with the job as a nurse. Great staff and good managers. Would recommend

Very busy place to work and pay scale is very low

Very busy place to work and pay scale is low. No constant growth. Different patient population are found in the hospital. Easily you can get work burn out is staffing shortage is constant.

Good benefits

Good orientations and education including in class and on floor training, enough support from managers and educators, enough opportunities to grow. Staff is very helpful.

Nice people everywhere

I always enjoy going to work. I am treated very well by management. I wish there was not so much sickness and everyone would come to work everyday. Thanks for listening.

Supportive

Mainly supportive environment but doesn’t listen to staff ideas for change. Stands up higher staff. Accepts diversity.

Covid Screener

Being paid $17/hr to monitor the entrances of the hospital is an unappreciated job. The managers job was a volunteer manager, so the transition to dealing with a growth opportunity for the manager.

Pros

none

Poor workplace

Very unprofessional place to work. Managers have no experience in operating room. Now they are hiring managers that are not even nurses, who have no knowledge of operating room or nursing. Very dangerous. Also hiring non nursing personnel to be trained in the OR. Very scary to know they will be taking care of you and your lived ones...It has definitely deteriorated our health care. Sad !

Pros

Job that pays my bills.

Cons

Poor employee support.

Busy but Enjoyable

Busy place to work but wonderful staff to work with. Great pay decent hours. Happy to be an employee of a great organization. The workload can be hectic some days but everyone works together.

Devestating

Working as a screener you spent your days being talked down to and ignored - the worst part of it was that this was fellow staff (usually Nurses). You think people within the hospital would be at least a small bit kind. The public was nicer to us which says a lot...

Cons

Rude coworkers, lack of care from management, toxic culture

good place to learn

fast paced but more chances to learn, management supportive to accommodate your learning needs, flexible , great mentor staff, cooperative colleagues, fun and busy place at same time,

Awful

Does not support staff and staffing needs. Takes advantage of staff. Floats staff to inappropriate units. (RPNs to RN only floors like NICU and paediatrics) without premium pay or even training
