Horrible place to work, Better shops and companys around!
Team Leader/Manager (Former Employee) –  Edmonton, AB1 May 2019
What started off as a lot of promise for advancement, work/life balance, and appreciation of employees quickly turned into the exact opposite. Once corporate bought out all the private stores everything turned. Micromanagement from head office in Ontario, with no care or knowledge of individual store needs, paired with unreasonable sales goals make for a unstable work environment. Head office only cares about sales, and has no actual knowledge of how to increase them. Management on the store level is the only saving grace. They also have some of the lowest wages, and have a poor training program.

Do not work here!!!
Employee (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB29 April 2019
I was a employee at Newleaf and I can tell you they are a very sketchy company. Almost everyone who started with the company is gone. HR would do nothing when managers abused the staff. The pay is low, benefits are even worse, and work life balance is non existant. Horrible company to work for.

Worst place i have ever worked hands down
Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB11 April 2019
This is by far the most depressing and soul crushing place i have ever worked They will find a way every day to make you feel awful and the way they treat employees is honestly disgusting. You can literally see it on the employees faces when you go into certain stores how much they value their jobs. All the valued employees who worked hard to build the store from the very beginning have mostly left and now all it is is a bunch of sketchy managers trying to make an extra buck by cutting peoples hours and stealing money from their checks, while pretending they are your friends and care about your thoughts (YEAH RIGHT). They even go as far as invading peoples privacy for no reason and blaming employees when things go wrong. It's sad that places like this just get away with treating their hard working employees this way. Even after long exit interviews with all ex employees saying the same thing the same problems still exist and get worse and worse everyday. Save yourself the trouble and wait till the new dispensaries open and forget this junk hole.

Waste of time
Team Lead (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB1 April 2019
Zero direction is given at this job. Hard work does not pay off and they dispose of employees like they're going out of style. Not sure why there are 5 star reviews on here as all my encounters with NewLeaf have been very shady. Missing hours on pay checks, no direction from management, gossip central, favouritism and lots of passive aggressive people (within management) who cannot communicate what they need from you and are willing to sell you out if it benefits them. If your'e looking for a career and to advance within a company DON"T CHOOSE THIS COMPANY!! A big disappointment all around.

Working here was great till they take your hours away
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB30 March 2019
They cut everyone's shift and over hired when opening
Working less than the required legal hours.
(How is anyone suppose to live off 8h of work every week?)
Having to do the dirty work what other employees don't want to do.

I've encountered Harassment/ invasion of privacy with two employees..which should've been reported to HR by the management team

Being a great positive light of the store
I decided to leave.

I wouldn't recommend working here ...hours are terrible (favorites seem to get exactly what they want and never work on the floor get to sit in the vault and do nothing)

No benefits no extras . Minimum pay no advancement
Dead end job
Pros
Friendly store
Cons
No discount, no benefits, no hours, invaded privacy

Don't waste your time
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB14 March 2019
New Leaf is not the company they make you think they are. It may seem like a really laid back, fun job but it's all smoke and mirrors. Managment makes something like selling cannabis stressful and treat you like a child they cannot trust while micromanaging your every move. Organization does not exist within most stores and management never lifts a finger, even when short staffed. Instead they stand around in the back of house, leaving one or two sales associates alone on the floor to handle all the customers, even during busy moments.

Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB9 March 2019
This job is not worth it. don't do it to yourself, you are better than this trust me. You can work as hard as you want and just get used and hung out to dry. Hours cut, missing money on your pay check, going home and crying your so frustrated with the organization of the place, manager meetings that feel like your talking to a brick wall? They've got it all! but seriously people the amount of stress this job causes is not worth it. There are so many more companies that are going to be popping up that are ALOT nicer than this place. Better ride the wave while they can cause all their loyal employees and the people who really care are just going to leave and already are.

Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB28 February 2019
I'm pretty surprised about the negative feedback about the company, although I do agree that the pay isn't great. We have an awesome team in the store that I work at, including the managers, and the job itself is pretty chill. I really enjoy helping customers enhance their lives with cannabis.
Pros
Great team, first dibs on product, chill environment

Newleaf Corporation take down.
Shat on employee (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB12 February 2019
Starting out this company was relaxed, cared about their staff, and were generally interested in everyone's well being. However, once National Access Cannabis (NAC) bought them out everything has taken a nosedive. Management has been squirming trying to pick up their pants and run their stories like professionals and thus having received vast amounts of excrement, have simply been serving it up to their employees ever since. Base pay is $0.50 over minimum wage and for $1.25 more an hour you become the object of maltreatment and overworking. I have heard stories of staff getting scolded to the point of tears, general workplace morale has dropped exponentially, new almost invasive employee searches and monitoring is now taking place . Management has now started acting like "big brother" or the "thought police" monitoring staff via their cameras to belittle them the following day. Save yourself the $50 investment you have to put in just to get this poor paying, nightmare of a job, and work somewhere else. Great place to shop, but to work? ha, good one.

Newleaf Welcome to the world of high turnover!

Do not work here
Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB20 January 2019
This place is not good. Management Has no idea what they’re doing. They will pressure you to lie to customers to push the higher priced strains to make better sales. They literally don’t care what you say to a customers as long as you make the sale. No idea what they’re doing, made some MAJOR policy breaches but continue to get away with it. They treat their employees like they’re nothing. The pay is terrible. McDonald’s pays more. Lowest paying cannabis store in the industry. So glad I left and went somewhere they respect me. I know people who still work for new leaf and are all miserable because they get treated like they’re nothing. Work life balance is nonexistent unless you’re a store manager.
Pros
you work in a cannabis store
Cons
Bad pay, bad hours, bad management, bad company

Great place to work!
Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  Calgary, AB11 January 2019
Working at NewLeaf Cannabis is a great job. Working as a team is so nice.
Customers come into the store happy to be there and once they have chosen, paid for and received their purchase, they leave in an even happier state.
We, as employees of NewLeaf, help newbies to cannabis, experienced consumers and everyone in between.
NewLeaf offers an amazing education and decent support structure for new and current employees. They work with your availability, and have a great system for upcoming schedules and allow for shift trades when needed. All employees feel appreciated and encouraged to continue learning about this new venture into legal cannabis.
Pros
Team goals.

Can work almost anywhere for the same pay but more respect
Team Member (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB5 January 2019
New Leaf does not care about their employees, the company takes its self too seriously with ridiculous policies. There is a huge divide between managers and employees, employees are treated very poorly and the pay is some of the lowest in the industry. Work life balance is not a thing at new leaf and they will preach about community and education but really just teach you sell the most expensive products and lie to customers about it.
