Branch Manager (Current Employee) –  Windsor, ON8 January 2019
Great place to work, great people and corporation! Banking industry is going through major transformation these past few years. NBC was very behind technologically in comparison to other financial organizations but recently is beginning to close that gap. Great support and benefits.

Futuristic workplace with challenges Change Management
Business Analyst - Data Integration (Former Employee) –  Montréal, QC8 January 2019
The company is in the middle of Digital Transformation as well as infrastructure changes and offices relocation.

Running for scrum meeting to the next building, back to the other building for information gathering with SME, do some development and analysis in anew open work context, no permanent office, standup area... very futuristic
Pros
modern and futuristic working environment
Cons
resistance to change, gossip

Senior Manager business banking (Current Employee) –  Montréal, QC17 December 2018
Nice people work for the organisation. there is a will to change the bureaucratic culture but they are under estimating the time and effort it takes to change the culture of an organisation of this size.

Great Work life balance
Senior risk analyst (Current Employee) –  Montréal, QC5 December 2018
Good worklife balance.
Operations are obsessed with cost cutting to the point they would underpay the employees in that sector compared to their colleagues in other divisions.
Even managers work against their own employees because if they pay their employees fairly, it would have a negative impact in their annual review with their manager. The most competent are not working in that sector.
There is salary discrimination and it's extremely frustrating. Women are doing the same job as other male colleagues within the bank but have lower job level. It is totally unacceptable.
I would recommend National Bank but not in the Operations division.
It is very badly managed as well.

Personal Banking Advisor (Former Employee) –  Moncton, NB21 November 2018
Left because the banking industry in a whole is too sales focused instead of counselling focused as well as to make a career in a different field.
Overall If i had to pick a bank to work for this was my top choice

Difficult to go to training seminars or information sessions and listen to everyone speak French when you only speak English. They have been a good employer of mine for many years.

A compnay that is slowly improving.
AML / ATF Analyst (Current Employee) –  Montréal, QC5 September 2018
The company is striving to become modern and change an old-school technophobic culture. The environment is respectful and benefits like pension plan are quite fair.

It was a good experience working here, it is a smaller bank so the culture is more intimate. You can get to know management fairly quickly and it is easy to advance within the retail sector.

Fun place to work at
Senior Credit Manager (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON24 August 2018
National Bank is a good place to work at. There are great benefits, good work/life balance. Management is excellent. Most enjoyable part is how the company takes care of its employees and the coworkers. The hardest part of the job is the restrictions that may be faced due to the need of update in technology. However, the Bank is in process of improving that part.
Pros
Good work/life balance
Cons
Technological restrictions

At National bank there is lot of room for growth if you are ok with a salary that isn't competitive enough. The management is good. I think a typical workday is challenging.
