Being a dishwasher at Moxie's Grill and Bar taught me a few things. The first thing is that I cant work a boring and difficult job without having company. The best jobs are the ones where you have fellow employees to work with, chat with and spend your day with. And the second thing is that ever workplace environment has key roles that need to filled in and done properly. I believe that I can be a useful employee and eventually learn how to do what needs to be done properly, efficiently and effectively.
Started this job about a month ago and I was just recently laid off from dishwasher due to the management stating that my effort and organization still wasn't there from when I started despite the fact that I literally wash all the dishes I get on time but I constantly have to stay back to wash all the extra dishes that the line and prep cooks keep bringing past my scheduled time. The next dishwasher for night literally will not come for another 2 hours after I'm done which means more dishes will come in and there's nobody to replace me and I cant go on breaks, They'll tell u to clean everything for the next dish person and when u stay back to wash the extra dishes that takes the line Cooks forever to bring you'll get blamed for not washing dishes that haven't arrived yet. Overall the management needs better leadership and an organized system for the dishwashers
There's no organization. Waiters and line cooks just throw whatever needs to be washed on the table. That and the dish station was small and inefficient. The station fills up rather quick. There's banquets which means at 11pm two carts full of material needs to cleaned all while the kitchen and servers close down their stations bringing more to clean and just tossing it wherever they feel like. Severs were decent people but some were lazy individuals and made rude comments about customers when not around them. Usually the managers are friends with the servers so they let them go home early while leaving 10 bags of garbage in the middle of the doorway, leaving it to dish to take care off. Overall this place is run by people who don't know how to run a restaurant. The pay is low, work load can be terrible, hours are inconsistent but you can listen to music which was the highlight of my experience.
i missed some over time hours as a result of there time out schedule....the managers all went home. They signed us out before we were done. Then we had to physically sign out, trusting the managers would put down the right time. Twice i got them. The first time was with the owners son. I just about quit then. Then the managers did it again in august. I didnt do nothing that time...then they held my tips..that was it....closing dishwasher since august 19 2016 moxies campbell river
Worked their finished dishes faster than the cooks. Dishwasher was old and had problems. Bosses always tried to not speak english even aorund customers. The Christmas party was at a Bar on southside at 12 am. Cooks were the only friendly people in the kitchen. Rude bosses looked at each other like they are specail more than the customers.
I was a dishwasher at Moxies and it seemed like a good place at first!! but then i got laid off for bad sales...its been a month and i still dont have my first paycheck. i was lead on and told that i would have more shifts within the coming weeks of work, and since this was my first job, i was very happy about this! but then three weeks past and i had no shifts. I called the manager and told i was laid off because of "bad sales" and that my pay would be in later that day. As of typing this i have nothing in my account and have been told it will be in on the 14th of this month. this is the worst place i have ever worked at..and it was the first.
no pay, barly any hours, leading you on, bad food
Moxie`s Bar & Grill is a great place to work due to their warm welcoming staff. A typical day would be: -punch in -change into uniform -a brief rundown of how the day was before your shift -your shift begins -your shift ends A learned that teamwork is important in a cooperative work environment. The management is very understanding, if any inconveniences were to happen they understand your position and do what they can to help. The workplace is fun and enlightening, they engage with you to a friend level making you feel involved and welcome. The hardest part of the job was closing, being a Dishwasher you close your station last because you have to clean the other stations' equipment and that keeps the managers and other coworkers waiting. The most enjoyable part of the job is starting because everyone greets you and your coworkers give you intel on how the day is going and what they predict the day will be like, which helps you prepare for later.
Free lunches, Good discount
Long hours, Standing a lot, Late closes
The staff is entertaining as well as fun, they all welcome you into the environment with open arms, they create a great atmosphere for work/leisure
Hudson's has a great friendly staff who all accept you into the work environment with open arms, some of the managers are strict and not very understanding to personal needs including medical.
Free food on the job
Managers don't understand when you have medical concerns and need a day off
My only memory of working for this company was that I had to work alone on a night where we were suppose to have 2 dishwashers on staff. Needless to say, I was not happy. I never got breaks either, so I can;t say I'm upset the location I worked at got shut down. The tips were nice though.
I was a Dishwasher and I would like to say that during my time working at Moxie's I enjoyed it a lot the team is awesome as well is the management. I experienced a lot of team work day in and day out and I would get help when needed
