it almost feels like a lifestyle at some points, the job gets very stressful and the staff isnt composed they will lose their cool and explode. management sucks they schedule poorly and their is no chance of sick days, you will be expected to prep food AND cook while sick.

Keep your rose tinted glasses on and you'll have a fun time. Only stay for one season.

I worked at Mount Washington Alpine Resort for several years, both summer and winter. I thoroughly enjoyed my first season, but I believe I was just not aware of what was going on. Upper management is an absolute joke. Washy was sold to Vail Resorts a few years back and the corporate side of things became very obvious very quickly. They care about making money and not much else. Where there was once fun to be had working on a mountain is an amazing environment, feels like everywhere else. Identical uniforms, no charm, no uniqueness to be seen anywhere. You aren't even allowed to wear your own toque. Employees feel so expendable and if you aren't past your probation period, you can be fired at the drop of a hat. You have to fight tooth and nail to get a raise. I came back for a third season and recieved an extra 25¢, and eventually got another 25¢ raise for a promotion after bothering my boss about it for a month and a half. They want their employees to return but do nothing to show it or give much incentive. Getting to work in the winter wasn't too bad as there's a free bus for employees but sometimes in the morning the buses would be jam packed with guests and you wouldn't be able to get to work on time. (They may have changed the rules on that one, however.) Lift operations management is... alright. It seems at times that they don't know what they're doing so it can get really chaotic, but I do believe they're all trying their best. They're genuinely an amazing bunch of people running the team, but it can feel very clique-y. Working just one season on the mountain is really -

Pros

Fun environment, free lift pass, transportation to/from work

Cons

Hard physical labour, poor upper management, long days, long travel time

Worst treatment ever

Do not give this resort your money. I worked here for 2 years and gave them 150% effort for minimum wage and i was treated very unfairly and not respected the way i deserve. The management gives the bike park trail crew barely enough budget to keep the trails from falling apart let alone build enough actually good new trails. They do not care about the bike park very much and they certainly only care about making money off of rich tourist families. I used to love this resort but in the last few years my experiences have cause me to extremely dislike it. It is unfourtunate that this is the main alpine resort on the Island because they do not deserve your money. Try to spend your money somewhere else becasuse you will be wasteing it here.😢

Pros

none

Cons

no respect, unfair wage

Overall summary

I really enjoyed working on Mount Washington it was a great business and I had a lot of fun along the way, they’re easy going but also strict, they’ll make sure you’re at work on time and make sure you’re doing your job correct overall it’s a great beginner job that I recommend for anyone that likes lighter rules but a steady workplace

Pros

Seriously Not Worth It

You can expect horrible pay and a serious lack of communications. Head of guest services (Tammy) is a nightmare and management provides little to no support for staff. Bullying and pettiness is the name of the game at MW. The directors seem great but in most departments you can expect to hate your job. There are people who have been there forever and refuse to accept new ideas and many unqualified 'managers'. It's a pretty unfortunate company that tries to incentivize staff by providing free skiing, but trust me, it isn't worth it. The novelty of the job wears off in days and don't expect management to care or do anything when you are unhappy or getting bullied in your position. Like any place, there are a few amazing staff members in various departments but the overall feel amongst the staff is misery. All I can say is good luck to those who try to work at MW.

Fun workplace but challenging at times!

Great place to work. Super fun job. If you are a good worker a lot of physical labour is involved. Overall great experience, but would not do it again as the pay is not good. Highly recommend to try at least one season!

Ambiente lavorativo stimolante e flessibile

Don’t waste your time

Unsupportive management, bad pay, staff bus is always broken down, mostly hire kids (13-17) who don’t care and can’t properly do the job. No proper training, no support when the customers complain, management is only looking out for themselves.

Pros

Ski pass

Disorganized and mismanaged

The only perk of working for Mt Washington is the free skii pass. Other than that it's a pretty poor place to work. It's so disorganized and mismanaged that you probably want to avoid working here all together. There is a lot of people working here that have huge attitudes, and you'll probably get talked down to on a daily basis.

Pros

Skii pass

Cons

Low pay, bad bus schedule, disorganized

Slave labour

Wages are insulting a multi million outfit. That pays you scraps. If like working for nothing this is the place for you. The ski resort is very over priced and mismanaged

Great work perks

Fun work environment, perks of free pass and lessons are great! Management has favourites. If you're not one job stability will not be yours. This is a fun place to work, not a professional place to work.

Pros

Great perks

Cons

Drunk coworkers
