Great place to work

During my stay I worked with multiple teams. I must say the people in MS are friendly and supportive. I wasn't so happy with the Salary I received and left. Would love to go back.

High paced, work hard play hard mentality

I enjoyed my time with the company, plenty of advancement opportunity in the growing business. It is an open concept office with plenty of collaboration amongst the different departments to ensure client satisfaction remains high. Now being part of the Morgan Stanley Family will only mean bigger and better things going forward, if you can get in the door you won't regret it.

There is no life outside NYC

Everything happens in NYC, and if you are not there, no chances you can make it. Big salaries there, only. People are very intimidating, I lasted 1.5 years and left. If you are not the shark type, I would not recommend. However, I have seen some of the most capable executives in my entire 20-year career...

Shareworks is terrific place to start your career! Management has lofty expectations of its employees but is supportive and great about personal development. Colleagues are also all very friendly and helpful. Lots of room for advancement too.

Shareworks by Morgan Stanley is a fun, fast paced environment where Management has always been incredibly supportive and encouraging in regards to career growth within the company. The workplace culture is unlike anything I have experienced at any company - the people are amazing and the executive team is incredibly approachable and friendly. The open office environment is fun and encourages cross-team interaction that offers a very welcoming feel. Would definitely encourage my friends to work here :)

Shareworks is scaling up and there is a mountain of legacy bugs, technical debt, bad design decisions, and access/knowledge issues that are making it a challenge to meet the ever increasing business demand on the system. Overall the acquisition has been very positive for my group. We have been able to leverage the extra capital to expand teams and get new hardware and licenses. Projects and Changes have always moved at a fast pace but now things are moving even faster and getting more complicated with more oversight but these are good problems to have in my opinion.

Pros

Power to control technological decisions. Openess to new ideas

Cons

Pace is relentless and hours can be long for Dev-Ops roles

Heavily promote a healthy work/life balance with casual beer time on Friday evenings. Never have I been pressured to work more than what is fair. If anything, the lack of pressure makes me wonder if they've just given up on me but so far I still work here and am happy about that. Flexible work hours. An entire month worth of paid time off per year! Benefits are pretty standard. People are friendly and helpful and as long as you genuinely want to succeed and do good work, you will be valued here. I can't speak on career advancement as I haven't worked here long enough but what it seems is that if you go after it, you can make it happen. They won't just toss promotions on your lap so if you want it, don't be lazy, make it happen.

I love working for Shareworks by Morgan Stanley. The job culture is fun, open, collaborative and inclusive - I truly enjoy coming in to work every day. They offer great work-life balance with work that challenges you but does not overwhelm. My managers are easy to talk to, always willing to go the extra mile to teach and help out. I absolutely recommend that any of my friends and family apply for a position here.

Great to start a career

I believe this place is great to start a career and learn about Share Purchase plans. It gives you professional growth and learning but only at some point, There is no much place to grow in the company although now is part of Morgan Stanley and new opportunities may show up.

Avergish Salary benefits not worth Horrible cutthroat corporate rat race

-Many different IT teams in who seek to only preserve their own reputation and face at expense of others due to too much work pressure, leading to excessive political blame games and fights -As of 2019, most (over 60%) of IT workers are sourced from India or cheaper locations, including big offshore based offices. The promotions and growth are only for those with shady unethical backdoor connections, the vast majority rest of workers will stagnate. Managers and bosses continuous seek to profit more for themselves at expense of the workers - Tons of unpaid overtime and weekend hours is illegal if brought to light and more worker discontent continues. -The 360 annual reviews is too overly picky and unjustifiable. - IT managers need to stop being so stingy to their hire more local staff already, instead of chasing "efficiencies. Be more flexible and accommodating for your workers. - Recent focused transition on "Agile" means more frequent layoffs for all workers who cannot match extremely high and painful pressure, sending workers to earlier death (See Karoshi and also Chinese 996 work hours culture news). -I was one who such who was laid off, now I am glad about it and never looking back. Be prepared for more revolving door and higher staff turnover rate should this continue, mark my words: your own excessively demanding and incompetent IT managers shall seal the doom of your own company.

Pros

Slightly higher than average annual( fixed) salary, and good health insurance benefit

Cons

Stingy and abusive demanding managers, frequent inter-team conflicts. long working hours with unpaid overtime and unpaid weekend hours, cut in yearly bonuses, stagnant salaries, lack of clear company directions, outdated technology, majority cheap offshoring & AI replacement worker abuses.
