Very smart people work here. Plenty of opportunities to learn.
Infrastructure Developer (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 21 August 2023
It’s a hybrid work environment with 2-3 days from office. Management is very supportive and promotes learning new skills. There are lots of trainings always happening and anyone can join them.
Pros
Good work life balance, surrounded by smart people, plenty of opportunities to grow your career.
Cons
Slow in adopting latest technologies.

Average place to work
Software Developer (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 13 June 2023
"Just a place to collect your pay check" - this is a pretty good summary of the work environment. Pay is average, work-life balance is good, very little career growth. No budget for any fun events.

It’s a good place to learn about the financial industry. Put in 3-5 years and get out.
Manager (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 29 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? This used to be a good place to work. The so called ‘culture’ they force down your throat is long gone. It’s just another place to collect a pay check now. Put in your 5 years and get out. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Always living with the annual and sometimes semi-annual layoffs. Way too much stress and worry for what is an average job at best. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not great. Very little in the way of team building and most people still don’t come to the office What is a typical day like for you at the company? Boredom. Outdated tools, old infrastructure, and management disconnected from reality or too bossy, rude and micromanaging.

Good culture.. but less chance of a career growth
Application Developer (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 14 April 2023
If you are looking for a good culture, and work/life balance, Morgan Stanley is a good compay to work. However pay increases are minimal (on average). Also getting promoted and career growth is not easy.

Could be improved.
Office Administrator / Facilities Coordinator (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 23 March 2022
As a facilities coordinator, if you don’t mind doing your job as well as most of everyone else’s job then you will like it. This job is basically being the pack-mule of the company. You get emails from other employees complaining that there are crumbs on their desk and requesting you to clean it. You’re responsible for stocking all the coffee stations. You need to respond to emails promptly, cover the receptionist on their lunch break, and set up meeting rooms all simultaneously. My boundary was reached when they were demanding me to do the Technology department’s job duties. As I was not being paid accordingly to do such tasks nor were they even my responsibility. When I mentioned this to upper management, they simply didn’t care.

Good culture, good people
Business Intelligence Developer (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 5 February 2022
I love the culture here. I feel like there are a lot of talented people and I can learn a lot from them. Respect, equality and diversity is being practiced, not just a slogan. Managers a few ranks over are still very modest and approachable, which I didn't find in the companies I previously worked for.
Pros
- Fair pay - Culture - Colleagues
Cons
- Lots of red tape due to regulation - Workload

Software Developer (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 11 June 2020
Terrible place to work, stay away. Too much red-tape. Very poor culture. For them it's not about getting work done. It's all about shirking responsibilities.

I had a lovely internship experience thanks to my supportive team and attentive Campus HR Team. We had fun activities like go-karting, valentines day social, tech talks, Tech Expo and Escape room. I got to work with a global team.

Management approach is not like high tech companies , its very traditional, if you want progress , you need to do show off and make your network, workload is not normal as well.

Productive and fun workplace
Insider Threat Analyst (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 14 January 2020
Work life balance, good pay but very competitive environment. No job security exists. Culture is harsh due to US influence. Make progress quickly if you are skilled.

Corporate culture
Consultant (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 7 January 2020
Too much competition and accountability that no one actually did anything. Meetings were excessive and unnecessary. Technologies outdated and low productivity.

Horrible management
Senior Software Developer - Enterprise Infrastructure (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 4 January 2020
The biggest problem I've seen that they don't hire talented managers they just prefer to keep loyal people for 20 years. Their methods are so outdated. Most of them just learned about Agile in 2020 and successfully failed with its implementation.
