Busy place to work but time went by fast. Friendly customers and coworkers. Food was always so so good. Free lunch and discount on food as well. Hah gained like 30 pounds working there to be honest that's how good the food was!
Free lunches/other food, no weekends, opportunity for extra hours when busy, friendly staff and customers
Crazy busy at times, some managers were power-hungry, long periods without breaks, sometimes expected to do too much within reasonable time.
The MSA used to be a great place to work, and was well respected by students, staff, and other student associations. We provided quality services, food services and each month was filled with a variety of events for every kind of student, which everyone was always hyped to promote and work. Majority of the staff were very passionate, willing to help where ever needed, going above and beyond to make students' experiences great. Had I been writing this review a few years ago, hands down would've rated 5/5 stars. However, since recent changes in executive direction/management, you can see just how toxic leadership can destroy a company. The turn over rate in the past year or two has been very high; employees quitting due to the poor work environment and hard-working employees that are shockingly let go for seemingly no reason other than that they were more open to voicing their concerns and disagreement with new direction/management. (even though management would like to make it seem otherwise) There is an extreme lack of planning and direction, proper training, accountability, general support, or encouragement to grow and achieve goals. The way upper management handles coaching is also unprofessional, (you're lead to believe you're doing fine, then next thing you know you're written up or fired) and they are inconsistent in enforcing policies seemingly more so only on certain people. There is also very evident micromanagement; employees don’t seem to be trusted to make decisions and do their job based on their professional knowledge and their ideas/feedback is rarely considered. - more...
Decent wages. Flexible work schedules for students
Micro managing, disorganization, toxic culture, poor decision making.
Stay far far away. Upper management has no clue what they are doing. In the span of a couple years the MSA has gone from one of the most respected student associations to one of the worst. It's only a matter of time before Mohawk student's question where their fees are going.. they don't support students when the students pay for them to support students..
was great having shifts between classes
upper management has no clue what their doing
Working at the MSA as a student, you get the flexibility you need with your program (such helpful, understanding managers when scheduling). Whatever role you are there on the street team (tours, promotions or events) you usually get the opportunity to cross-train and work in the other departments which is great for developing new skills.
Great flexibility, great management
Shorter shifts, usually only two hours
to organise stuff for the student in our college. like free food and organising different events for their benefits. hardest part you have to take care of the small and small needs of the students in an event and enjoyable part is to see them happy and just making their faces with smile which I like the most.
We are always helping students in any way we can. Provides me with experience in all different aspects of business.
