Senior Administrative Specialist (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 13 February 2019
Great energy in the company - vibrant employees of all ages. Too many levels of reporting. At times it felt like numerous bosses to report to. Some of the Accountants were used to having their own small Accounting firms and had a tough time aligning with a corporation.
Public Accounting Firm Very Demanding. No Perks as Support Staff
Support Staff (Former Employee) – North Toronto, ON – 27 December 2018
Joined when it was a small company but has grown and contiually acquiring and merging smaller accounting firms. Not very progressive thinking company. Old school. No room for advancement in supporting roles. Seems like, f you're not an accountant at MNP, then you are a second class employee
3 weeks vacation and 6 Sick Days/5 Personal Days per year
No real increases in salary. No advancement. No Training. No Career Path.
Senior Administrative Assistant (Current Employee) – Calgary, AB – 5 December 2018
It is a good company to work for if you are an accountant. Admins get lost somewhere in the main stream. Different departments offer different culture, but over all it is a great environment to work in.
they are not just different by design but by industry norms as well
Analyst (Current Employee) – Calgary, AB – 25 October 2018
Anybody who works or have worked in the past at MNP, would agree that these guys have no mature processes. One of the most successfully practiced process is of the employee layoff/ firing without reason. Everything ends up being a hit and trail task because of hard deadlines imposed by the higher ups. Management plays no role other than acting pricey just days before the project is ready to deliver to end-users. People who have worked there for 10 or 15 plus years act as the flag bearers of the invisible progress the company is making
CPA - Staff Accountant (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON CA – 9 October 2018
I have only been here as a CPA articulating student, but have been coming back term after term. The team I work with is small and growing in the firm, so I was able to work directly & get to know partners and senior managers and can honestly say that they do care about your progress and time in the firm. The culture is great, I had the opportunities got to socialize with teams outside of mine and can say that everyone does care about each other. Of course there will always be some exceptions but overall the people, culture and my team really made my time there enjoyable & worthwhile. Hours can be long during busy season but there is still a good emphasis on work-life balance and the team does notice your hard work and you get rewarded well for it.
Corporate office is great, local office is a scary place to work
Employee (Former Employee) – Ontario – 11 September 2018
Actual work is comparable to any other accounting office; Many of the local partners create an unpleasant and unhealthy work environment. It's too bad because the corporate organization seems fair and reasonable and appears to really value their staff. So although Sudbury may not be the best place to choose to work...other offices may be different.
The corporation seems to value their staff
Local office does not reflect the core values of the head office
office politics and terminations without "cause" are typical
Analyst Programmer (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 23 August 2018
Micro - management Unclear expectations No overtime or vacation banking in certain teams Zero job security as they terminate without cause Managers do not follow what they "preach", everyone is busy saving their own aas from the CIO guy Business executives are dumb-heads with no clear vision Unmotivated work culture because of high turn over and terminations
long hours, unclear expectations, do not value employees, no job security
Regional HC Coordinator (Current Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 13 August 2018
I really enjoyed the company and the worklife balance I was given at the beginning but with the growth of the company a lot of change occurred. Culture has definitely changed with the growth to a larger corporation feeling although we still boast small town feel. I think it is a great place if you are an accountant but any one in another role like admin/HR/marketing are likely being underpaid.
An established Canadian Company with seasonal overtime
Accounting Technician/Insolvency Counselor (Current Employee) – Peace River, AB – 27 July 2018
A great place to learn the ropes as a CPA. Long days of data entry or analyzing. Some direct contact with clients. An open door policy with Partners. You answer to several bosses. Seasonal overtime during "tax season".
Employee (Former Employee) – Saskatoon, SK – 19 July 2018
Bad bullying problem within the firm. Very poor management communication. Favouritism is quite evident. High expectation with mediocre pay. Termination without cause happens to employees after busy season.
A good company to work for in pursuit of your Chartered Accountancy designation. There is adequate exposure to clients and the level of work allows for rich professional growth for employees with talent.
