Extensive and complex Calendar management, learnt OPSEU protocols and how the Government, Management was great and the workplace culture exhibited a great camaraderie. The hardest part of the job was the packages which were urgent and had to be moved and monitored from desk to desk. The most enjoyable part of the job was that the staff was very friendly and ever willing to assist.
Great place to work
Being a Ministry job, there was no possibility of working longer due to the influx of secondments.
Strong management, very IT oriented, this Ministry was one of the first to use mainframes and outsource major IT components to a third party IT service company to increase savings without major investments (e.g hiring additional staff, software)
This was a great learning experience for myself as I had never worked in this kind of setting before. All of my co-workers were willing to open up about their experiences and give me great feedback, which was appreciated. Every day in the office was different; some days were slower than others. The hardest part of the job was being able to sit down one-on-one with all of the co-workers as they had a lot of work to do. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people everyday and hearing their stories about how they got to where they are.
