Great for building sales/customer service skills
Working in sales taught me all the basics of making good sales and customer service. I found the management team at my workplace to be quite disappointing as they didn't treat everyone equally and with respect; however, I don't believe all MK stores are the same. I reccomend starting as a sales associate because any company or employee would appreciate someone with adequate sales and customer service experience.

Selling your soul
You must follow their rules. This company views their employees as walking mannequins. The clothing allowance is amazing, but you are not allowed to express your own sense of style. The district manager, regional manager even your own manager will critique the way each piece of clothing fits you. They only focus on numbers and your appearance. The funny thing is, I did fit their mold. To these people vanity is all that matters. I have strong integrity and left the company because of the miss-treatment to my fellow staff. This company does not respect styles from your own culture, even when it had been explained to the district manager. I do not feel this company is a healthy environment, especially for young adults.
Sales Associate/Cashier in St. Catharines, ON

Seems great until you’re a month into work.
Management is horrible and unprofessional. I worked here for a year and a half and I was overworked beyond belief. All this place cares about is money and bonuses. They don’t care about the well being of their employees at all. The workplace environment was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. Everyone will gossip about you and stab you in the back, INCLUDING the managers. I was made to do tasks that managers should have been doing every single shift because managers here do not do a THING. Your hard work will never be appreciated or acknowledged. Everyone I’ve worked with there has taken mental health breaks for long periods at a time because this place will DRAIN you. You will regret applying here, I can promise you.

Fun until it isn’t
MK is great compared to other retail jobs. The salary is decent and your commissions can pad it nicely. Also if you have a good manager and good coworkers the job can be really good. However the corporate culture is not great and the higher ups promote more on looks than on overall abilities. If you look “jet set” that’s often all you need to succeed in the company. Also the hours can be quite gruelling. Even part time employees often work 30+ hours a week, so that’s something to keep in mind if you are a student.

Not the best company to work for
They over work you, get rid of everything that made it worth working-free clothes, bonuses. They add stress upon you and during holiday season, you have absolutely no life- you will be pushed around and bullied.
