Store Manager (Current Employee) – Red Deer, AB – 22 January 2018
Sales is priority while the company is striving to be very people-focused. All told it is a an enjoyable place to work provided you are hitting your sales targets. The hardest part of the job is finding time in the day to accomplish all of the tasks to standard.
Sales (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 14 March 2018
My day at work usually starts from what is the day plan: Ones I know the plan of my day at work I follow my routine and enjoy my day working in environment. I always learn some thing at work place, since I am a walking question I love asking to learn more. I have had Management positions and supervising as well, so I always treat employees fair and respect. At workplace must be the number 1 rule first of all, "RESPECT" that's is a culture in workplace. The hardest part of the job is when you have to do something that you have not been trained, but always find solution. The most enjoyable part of the job for me always is when I learn more that I know from work, team work.
Part-time Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Hamilton, ON – 8 March 2018
Michael Hill is a great working environment. The staff treats their employees and customer as family. They offer in-house training. The management is very patient and understanding of their staff needs.
Assistant Salesperson (Former Employee) – West Vancouver, BC – 3 February 2018
Management at Michael Hill in Park Royal mall was very unethical. Years ago I was employed there for a school's work experience program, and all throughout the end of the work period, the manager refused to admit she owed me any salary and insisted I was only there to volunteer. I ended up having to report her to BC Labour before I got my pay.
Supervisor/Team Leader (Former Employee) – British Columbia – 15 November 2017
This was my worst job yet. First of all the manager was young (which is fine) but he was not prepared to be a manager. He would constantly leave the store and then get mad when we weren't doing something right, yet he was never there to show us. Then there was the district manager who when I handed in my resignation, she acted like a child and instantly crossed out the rest of my shifts for the next two weeks. What kind of grown women acts like this? I was so offended but still finished that day, which ended up being my last day returned my key and never went back. The most unprofessional mannerisms I've ever encountered, I even had to go to the labour board to get my last two weeks pay.
Manager in Training (Former Employee) – Ottawa, ON – 27 September 2017
The salary here for management, entry level was good, but the benefits were not very good, nor was the manager who was training me to become a store manager. The workplace culture was very much a "Believe in our products, prices and brand" even though all of which were sub-par.
I would never would for this company again.
Poor Management, Poor Work/Life Balance, Benefits were sub-par

I learned a lot about jewellery like the difference between gold and silver and all other types of diamonds. I worked there during Christmas and it showed me how much people care about each other and it made me really happy to see customers happy with what they bought.

Sales Manager (Former Employee) – Oshawa, ON – 28 June 2017
Management just look the other way as long as you getting the numbers, doesn't matter how.. First time meeting the CEO expecting some wisdom, inspiring words. and he said:" If you don't meet the sales targets you don't deserve to be here"
Can be a fun place to work but extremely demanding that results a compromise of life/work balance.
Sales Professional (Current Employee) – Metrotown, BC – 3 June 2017
It is a very good place to work because it provides training for Sales Professionals,But it can also be extremely demanding on weekly sales targets that continues to rise but the bonus and compensation remains the same if not least.
Free trips .
Long commute, stress in meeting high weekly targets, demands if higher targets but least bonus and compensation.
Jewellery Consultant (Current Employee) – Niagara, ON – 3 May 2017
It is a comfortable environment to work in, but the job requirements can be stressful and demanding. You must meet weekly sales based on your hours worked but do not receive bonuses or commissions on those sales
