Interesting, challenging work with great people
Staff Engineer (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 26 August 2021
New senior management has changed the company for the better compared to 10+ years ago. People are great, management is supportive and knowledgeable. Work is challenging, interesting and can be fast paced, but you do have time for a personal life. Work hours are generally flexible depending on your role and program needs. Paid overtime and you can bank flex and vacation. Your career path depends very much on you setting your own course. Work towards what you want, and show initiative and you can go far. If you sit back and let things just happen then you wont.
Pros
Free coffee, gym, ping pong tables. Great people
Cons
Occasional long hours

Positive and Vibrant
Senior Engineer (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 13 April 2021
After a long absence, my return to MDA has been full of surprises. The new management team has proven that their promise to focus on employees is truly their mission, not just empty words. The cultural facelift is refreshing - from frequent token gestures to show their gratitude for your services, to bold strides in removing toxic contributors from the work environment. A far cry from complacency. A dramatic increase in hiring over the recent years has invited a younger workforce that brings about a fun and vibrant atmosphere. In tandem, the investment in employee training has also seen a significant rise, not only in courses/lectures, but also with the implementation of a new shadow/mentorship strategy that allows both junior and senior employees to collaboratively grow in different ways. The new Canadarm3 contract has also renewed the sense of national pride, and along with it a hopeful and optimistic outlook on the technology development ahead. I'm definitely excited to be back. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of this iconic lunar mission?
Pros
Makes you feel like you're part of a family.
Cons
Long commute to work.

Great place to work!
Junior Engineer (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 12 April 2021
The work culture is really great, there is a lot of teamwork and respect. Coworkers are extremely welcoming and helpful when transitioning into the new role, everyone is open to answering questions. Flex time and benefits are really good. Lots of opportunity for training and further education. Management is great and works with you to plan out where you want your career to go and what projects you are interested in. The new structure of the company is helping MDA grow and bringing on a lot of new projects and talent. It's a great place to fuel your passion and contribute meaningful work to Canada's space industry.

Great team, lots of learning opportunities and chances for advancement if you put the work in
Member Technical Staff (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 12 April 2021
I love my job, I get to support space robots for a living! The whole team is incredibly helpful and willing to pass on knowledge if you show interest.
Pros
Free coffee ;), Space robots, great talent pool to learn from, lots of diverse work to be done
Cons
If you work in flight support, can be very stressful at times. Although if you're an adrenaline junkie that's a bit of a pro...

Exciting place to work!
Engineer (Current Employee) - Brampton, ON - 8 April 2021
MDA is a changed place, with renewed energy and focus under the new leadership. Working on Canadian robotic systems for humanity's return to the Moon is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is both challenging and rewarding.
Pros
Being part of Canada's flagship space programs
Cons
Long commute from where I live

Not fun place to work
Engineer (Former Employee) - Brampton, ON - 25 October 2020
This place practices discrimination during the hiring process based on ethnic origin and the immigration status despite available and confirmed in Canada and in Europe relevant high qualification, Canadian citizenship, available security clearance. Nationalistic discrimination and harassment during the employment is the norm here. Corporate lie about allegedly policies is the norm as well. Nepotism and cronyism is widespread in this organization. The management on all levels and the HR are all heavily involved into this outrageous racism.
Pros
empployment itself
Cons
Outrageous harassment and discrimination

Engaging and Fun
Optical Engineer (Former Employee) - Kanata, ON - 2 April 2020
Over my internship I was given the opportunity to lead my own research project. This freedom to have control over the design was very encouraging and beneficial to my personal development. They also hosted hockey games on a semi-weekly basis, which was a fun opportunity to meet other members of the company.

Software Engineer (Former Employee) - Brampton, ON - 23 January 2020
Good. Awesome place to work. They don't hire many people due to budget constraint. There is one cafeteria. Co-workers are very friendly. Some teams still using old technology.

Bel endroit pour y travailler, mais pas de stabilité sur le long terme .
Travailleur satellites (Former Employee) - Ste-Anne-De Bellevue - 9 October 2019

Interesting Work but no advancement
Project / Mechanical Engineer (Former Employee) - Brampton, ON - 18 June 2019
get to work on very interesting projects like assemblies that go into space. But very little advancement to Senior or management. also work is very administrative with lots of paperwork. No actual engineering just chasing paper.
Pros
Interesting Projects
Cons
No advancement

don't know why they handle salary like this
Level 4 software engineer (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 4 April 2019
salary is much lower than market, so the later hired got higher salary and then stay at the level. This year (2019) the rate of salary increase is based on your current one, higher pay got lower rate.
During the work, result is less important than attitude. Code reviewers intend to force their own personal preference, if you argue back, then you become a difficult people to work with.

Great co-workers, low pay, poor executives
SOFTWARE ENGINEER II (Current Employee) - Richmond, BC - 12 March 2019
The best thing about the job is the co-workers, everyone is always willing to answer any questions and help you out. The pay for the job is low and upper-management doesn't really seem to know what they're doing. Pay raises are always coming "soon" and constant re-organisations are used as a smokescreen to make it seem like HR and management are making useful changes.
Pros
Great peers
Cons
Poor upper-management
