Our Mission & Values
Our Mission & Values Any mission worth pursuing must have a goal that goes beyond the self, and be driven by values that inspire us to pursue it and others to join it. Here’s ours. INTEGRITY We stand behind our promises and deliver, every time. We take pride in our work. And our integrity is reflected in the openness we practice, the solutions we create and the support we provide. COLLABORATION We take our partners where they want to go by listening, adapting, solving problems and staying a step ahead to achieve greatness together. OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE Our work speaks for itself. For decades, our team of industry experts have been solving mission critical problems that people, our country, and our sovereignty depend on. INSPIRATION Fueled by our love of space, we’re driven to make dreams come true, lead the charge, and awaken that same drive in all, just as we have done throughout our mission history. RESPONSIBLE We’re Canada’s original space pioneers, and for 50 years we’ve approached every mission the Canadian way: proudly, sustainably, equitably and ethically.
Space For You
Every day, more than 1,900 people in Canada, the US and the UK bring their best to our mission of advancing humanity’s place in the universe and on Earth. The space sector has entered a new era of exploration and development, and MDA welcomes all who yearn to suit up and be part of it. An equal opportunity employer prizing diversity, integrity and collaboration, we are engineers, marketers, program managers and much more, all committed to growing MDA’s and Canada’s leadership in this next golden age. Explore our Canadian and global opportunities, as well as our co-op / work terms here.
Our mission is to turn data into insight. From detecting changes in fragile ecosystems to monitoring northern ice floes and shipping routes, our near-real time data of Earth observation and the environment makes our Geointelligence team a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems and defence programs.
ROBOTICS & SPACE OPERATIONS
With 40 years of operational experience and proven performance on the iconic Canadarm programs including Space Shuttle and International Space Station robotics and operations support, our Robotics & Space Operations team has 100% mission success in making space dreams come true.
MDA - Building Canadarm3 for the Lunar Gateway
We’re going to the Moon! The Canadian Space Agency has awarded MDA a contract to establish the technical requirements to build Canadarm3, a smart robotic system for the Lunar Gateway. The Gateway will be a deep space outpost that will orbit the Moon, supporting both human and robotic missions to the lunar surface, serving as a science laboratory, and acting as a proving ground for exploration missions into deeper space. Canadarm3 will be comprised of a large and a small robotic arm, specialized tools to perform maintenance and science tasks, and robotic interfaces to enable access to all Gateway elements. With extremely limited connectivity and significant latency due to the Gateway’s location some 400,000 km from Earth, Canadarm3 will be highly autonomous and will use its advanced AI-enabled sensors and systems to make decisions when the astronauts are not present. As Canada’s – and MDA’s – most ambitious space exploration project yet, we look forward to the exciting new spin-off capabilities made possible by AI-enabled robotics!
