Fun, great pay and friendly staffs to work with
Housekeeper (Current Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 17 February 2023
I love working at the children’s hospital. The hours are good. The pay is good. The staffs are very nice and welcoming! But the hospital parking is not free and they’re not cheap. I usually park at the street during the day. Provided I don’t get tickets. However I’m working night shift so parking at the street overnight is free.
Pros
Very good high hourly pay, shifts and staffs are very nice, helpful and friendly
Cons
Hospital parking are not free and expensive

Lovely place to work
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada - 17 June 2018
I worked for Mac for 2 years and had a wonderful experience there. You won't find more caring and dedicated people anywhere. My management was as supportive as they could be given constraints of the unit/ hospital funding. My colleagues were like my second family, and even when things were extremely stressful, we managed to have a laugh and some fun during every shift. Mac provides staff with a place to workout for next to nothing, EAP and general wellness facilities; its up to you to take advantage of them. Overall, I would recommend McMaster to any nurse passionate about working with kids and their families.
Pros
Access to libraries, food, employee services
Cons
Under staffing at times, Very long waiting list for onsite employee parking (shuttling to/from hospital)

Kids are adorable!
Student Nurse (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 19 August 2016
This placement required understanding the needs of children and how these needs change through each developmental stage. I learned how to communicate appropriately with children and the parents or guardians. I worked in partnership with other health care professionals to promote wellness in children. With the assistance of clinical instructor, I administered medication via IV, IM, SQ, and PO.
I love Pediatricss because I enjoy taking care of a baby as young as 4 days old to an adolescent as old as 17 and everything in between. My favorite age groups are newborn/infant, toddler, and preschoolers. So, I typically get "my fill" each day at work. It's the joy of seeing them go from sick to well. Most days, I leave work feeling satisfied with the work I've done and the children I've encountered. Maybe the hardest part was not being able to communicate with newborn babies because they can't talk back so sometimes I have to hold them down and force them to take their medications. The Most enjoyable part was working with parents. I like teaching them how to care for their children upon discharge and seeing the look on their faces when they learn a new skill or become more knowledgeable about their child's illness. Some of our parents are awesome, and I feel that I am learning how to be a better mom someday from them.

find my value for the society
Statistical Consultant (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 15 January 2016
I have been working as a research assistant of paediatrician in Children's hospital on their researches on paediatrics.
I worked from home for them. They provide me the data and the project subjects. Then, I manipulate the data, establish models and meeting with them to explain the results. The people working in hospital are high-demonding. They are strict with everything, like the colours in graphs. I feel myself valuable when I do these kind of analysis and help the infants in an indirect way.
