Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by Indeeda good start for work experience especially for students and teens but management is a coin toss, you may get lucky but the environment overall can be overwhelming.

Flexible and good advancement opportunities.
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Surrey, BC - 10 August 2022
Very flexible schedule especially for students, was able to take two weeks off for final exams. Was offered a promotion after only a month. Did get hectic when busy and boring when not. Also did not get as many hours as I'd like (usually got 20/week when I'd want 32).
Pros
Flexible, Advancement opportunities, Free drinks
Cons
Don't always get the amount of hours you want (you get less)

Insights into McDonald's

- General feeling of work happiness
- Sense of belonging
Fast paced working but ok if you work with good people
CREW MEMBER (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 10 August 2022
"McDonalds is a good place to learn how to multitask, how to do a good job in a lowly station, and how to deal with people who dont want to be dealt with. For those with no experience working with others, this is a good place to gain self confidence and learn to quickly make decisions. That said it also teaches the dangers of getting stuck in a rut, the easy path of doing the minimum and getting by just "fine". This is an easy place to work, but don't let it be your only experience."

good job for experience
Crew Member (Current Employee) - Barrie, ON - 9 August 2022
Honestly gives you good experience and teaches you how to deal with a stressful and fast paced environment and how to deal with customers and stuff but sometimes the hours are ridiculously long
Pros
50% employee discount, Free Beverages
Cons
Long Hours

Really depends mainly on store and management
Swing Manager (Current Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 9 August 2022
I believe it's an amazing starter job if you are in the right store. If the higher management is willing to listen to concerns and actually act on them then it's really good. Unfortunately this may not always be the case in which case you will dread going into every shift.
Pros
Free food/discounted food, decent pay
Cons
Understaffed, lack of respect, no care for employee wellbeing

Ok
Cashier (Former Employee) - Winnipeg, MB - 9 August 2022
Its a decent starting job. Get in, do what you gotta do, get out. Scheduling is decent if you know what you want. Things can move very quickly though and it's hard to keep up.

Alright.
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 9 August 2022
A good place to work if you're a teen or if it's your first job. It fairly easy to get hired and I learned a lot from my experience there. It depends on who your manager is, I guess.

Stressful; not worth the pay
Crew Member (Former Employee) - Moncton, NB - 9 August 2022
Way too many tasks expected for one person to complete, which results in frustrated customers and employees alike. You are expected to wipe counters, prepare drinks, clean rags, bag food, take orders, and clean the bathroom and you often don't have sufficient help. Overall not enough training for the work that is required.
Pros
employee discount
Cons
way too stressful

Awful
Team Leader (Former Employee) - New Glasgow, NS - 8 August 2022
Awful, demanding, no support, no flexibility like they advertised, guilt tripping. The only reason they create good workers is because they work their employees till they snap.
Pros
Discount
Cons
Bad, demanding management

Jobs at McDonald's
Fast paced but are very accommodating to students
McDonald's Crew Member (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 8 August 2022
This was my first job out of high school and I've been working part time. Everyone's very friendly and the managers are very accommodating when it come to scheduling. It can get stressfull during peak hours and you should be able to prioritize and multitask. Wouldn't reccomend it for those who can't do that.
Pros
50% discount
Cons
It's very tiring depending on how popular your location is

Formateur mais intense
Emploi étudiant (Former Employee) - Drummondville, QC - 7 August 2022

it's alright
Guest Experience Leader (Current Employee) - Midland and Lawrence - 6 August 2022
- learned how to multi-task, cooperate with a team, work with speed, etc - management is unsupportive, disliking all crew who aren't doing their position properly regardless of them being new/old members - constantly feeling over-worked, drained of energy
Pros
50% discount, building skills
Cons
staff shortage, toxic management

Dynamic fast paced work place
Cashier (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 6 August 2022
This is a great first job or summer job especially for students. The staff team ends up feeling like a family. At times can be stressful fulfilling orders during peak times. Many hours on your feet

Managers shout at you and will humiliate you (McDonald’s 3025 clayhill, Mississauga)
Team Member (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 5 August 2022
The managers shout at us and they humiliated me in front of a customer just because I was slow using the computer! It was literally my 2nd day of training. They don’t motivate you, they just shout at you and keep asking you to do this and that while the other workers are chatting! Co-workers pushed you when they need to get their order.

Horrible!
McDonalds Crew Member (Former Employee) - Toronto, OH - 5 August 2022
Its a not humanly reasonable to work here. You have to do four jobs at once with horrible managers and hours. The crew were all the same race and chose to speak tagalog over english leaving the other workers confused on what to do. The training is horrible and the managers are biased and rude. Dont work here, you're worth more than that.
Pros
Free food.
Cons
Torture.

Fun workplace
Crew Member and Trainer (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 5 August 2022
Very stressful. Doing hundreds of tasks at a time. Pay is just basic. Management is also busy to listen to anything. It is good for students as part time job.

Good
Cashier (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 5 August 2022
Good starting job as teenager. I had a great team. Can get stressful sometimes because it's super busy. Was able to work and go to school. Discount on food was nice

Just okay
Work yourself to death to make up for lazy coworkers and never receive recognition, and watch your lazy coworkers get promoted and rewarded. Sometimes you get yelled at by both customers and management, and some days you have a refreshing conversation with a regular. It's a job that pays (not nearly enough), and you MIGHT get your benefits... eventually. Sign your soul over to the clown, just so you can afford to pay your rent.
Pros
employee discount
Cons
Toxic work environment, hardly any growth opportunities, unfair wages

Très stressant
Équipière (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 4 August 2022
On attend de vous de courir partout sans cesse. Les clients ne sont pas très compréhensible non plus.
