most days its an ok place to work, other days theres too much stuff that the managers let go and don't deal with, if theres a conflict of interest they just turn a blind eye and have no issues with threatening staff with firing them if they don't do what they are told, even if it's wrong. there's too much lack of leadership now that the owner has semi retired.
no appreciation for hard work
Good friendly peopleEnergetic workforceRelaxed place to work Beautiful and spacious work environment with secured cubicles. It's more like a virgin land for improvement
Great management team
No collaboration between departments. Too much blame games.
Well if you like working for companies that constantly attack you for any small error in you’re work you do. While management themselves continuously screws up and chases out customers out of the building , and allows the journeyman / lead hands to literally bully and degrade fellow employees. Then you will love working for maxim in Edmonton. Do you like working for a shop that is clique , we’re the morning shift welder and foreman are buddy buddy , so they can do whatever the heck they want. While using the shop as their own personal car garage on the weekend and selling lemons to other people online. Not to mention blowing off their black water into the shop drainage so the whole shop literally smells like human feces. My first day as a 1st year in Edmonton the current journeyman/ lead hand told me “ it’s not safety first at maxims , it’s do what the heck I tell you to do. “ Not to mention the 1 week of days 1 week of nights for most employees while the buddies of the shop foreman and manager freely decide when their shift will start. And what work they feel like doing during the day. AVOID MAXIM
End of the day
8 hours feels like 40 their
Be careful about Edmonton location Parts dept. It is very disorganized and they do not prioritize their customers. I was embarrassed on several occasions trying to assist customers. Inventory is never correct and quotes take forever. There is infighting and power trips with the managers and it be extremely frustrating. There is a lack of professionalism with how they handle their employees and customers. Quite schocking. The Service dept, however, is very well run by the manager. The only issue is when they have to wait on parts to get customers jobs done. Beware!
Service Dept. Very well run. Excellent service writers and a diligent Service Manager
Parts Dept. Lack of professionalism.
Parts Manager understands the parts and sales well but is a poor manager of his own time and of people. Department needs an outside sales person so the Manager can focus on his job instead of running about the country acting as a salesman. Does not back up his staff.
Worked for maxim from 2006-2011, I remember starting not long after my 20th birthday as a first year apprentice. The foreman at the time was great and the morale was high, the amount of talent was pretty high as well. When the recession hit in 2007-08 work got slow but maxim didn’t lay anybody off. Looking back I give that company a lot of respect. The mechanical experience was great too. Haven’t been given the opportunity to rebuild engines since I’ve been at maxim
We want to help you find great companies. Help us be the best!

I have worked at Maxim for a few years now and I can honestly say that I love it there. All of my managers actually care and take the time for you. They care about the people that work for them and want them to succeed. I am not going to say that they are perfect because all companies have their weaknesses and strengths. But I can honestly say that if you are someone that wants to do your job the best you can and take responsibility for what you do. Maxim Truck and Tailer will take care of you.
Great interest in keeping people.
Some areas need some tweaking.
Working here you will have fun, get paid great. Lacking mentorship and training. A lot of family members work in this shop for it being a small environment. Leadhand has been in/out of this shop 4 times. I got let go from here as a first year apprentice very shortly after one of welders sons started here. Just seems fishy to me.
Great pay, awesome benefits, overall fun
Family oriented, Lacking training
The branch manager rules by bulling and intimidation. I personally reported him to HR on three different occasions due to his actions towards misconduct towards other team members. To my knowledge nothing was done.
Very negative environment, very high turnover rate
There is not enough work to put in 40hrs a week, managers are incompetent, can’t focus on business, pay is short they nickel and dime you. They parking lot is like a sand desert, they don’t even give out free car washes. Do yourself a favor and find a real company to work for.
You can take time off cuz there is no work
They even make you pay for coffee you can’t drink
