Terrible case management
Personal Support Worker- Casual (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON4 March 2019
This was the worst agency to work for. There was no on location case workers, meaning they never meet their client to properly assess their homes to ensure that proper care can be provided. They assign you cases with pay as low as $14.00 an hour and that could be someone who has total care requirements including house keeping and cooking. This job is horrible and even if you drive there is no mileage rewards program

Not good for nurses
Registered Practical Nurse (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON3 December 2018
First of all and most importantly, this company does very little in advancing your career and learning experience as a nurse.

They might employ you as a nurse but your task and responsibilities are at a lower skill level than a psw.

They will also ask you to work during times you are unavailable and won't give you jobs for when you actually request it.

The app idea is great but you may have to use your data in certain clients home

The pay is terrible for what you had to pay in order to get your diploma or degree, cno registration, and to do the actual job(which is sit just house sitting).

Lastly if you notice the staff that praise the company are the recruiters who get paid higher and do not have to deal with the work conditions that nurses do. take note of these point i have given and apply for a job that employs and pays you what they say they will pay you.
Pros
the app is convenient and the job allows flexibility
Cons
Your nursing skills may suffer and the pay is not worth it

Inexperienced Staff
Caregiver (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON19 September 2018
Most of the staff in their head office are nice but inexperienced. A lot of them are very young and do not know what they are talking about. They do not know how to handle their case load because I get called for the same cases over and over. Some cases are very difficult to staff and they cant get caregivers to stay because there is not enough support from more experienced supervisors. It is obvious that most of their staff are not nurses or have no background or interest in the medical field, they are only interested in keeping cases for profit. It also seems like they change or loose staff fast, it is very hard to keep track of who your coordinator is.
Pros
high tech
Cons
inexperienced coordinators, not enough hours

Company needs to hire more medically trained staff. coordinators are customer service not medically trained
Caregivers (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON16 June 2018
I am currently employed at mavencare. Company theoretically wonderful. That’s as far as it goes clients are very abusive so are family members .low standards for their staff pay very low , work load extremely heavy and unrealistic. No support for caregiver . Supervising staff does not support caregivers
Caregivers are often expected to do things way beyond psw scope of practice and if they refuse they are reprimanded by family and very often staff . This is definitely a business that cares more about money than their staff and clients
Pros
Lots of long hours
Cons
Low pay, heavy work load, stressful clients and family members .

Horrible pay for nurse
Registered Practical Nurse (Former Employee) –  Toronto, ON6 March 2018
horrible pay for nurses. They have more PSW job offers and if they have nurse positions they are already taken with the previous nurses that are working there.

Recruiting Associate (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON9 May 2017
I’ve been working at Mavencare full-time for about 8 months and it has been a great experience!

Being a start-up, the company encourages new ideas and vertical growth which helps its employees feel like they are a part of something bigger. Co-workers and the culture of the company are great and encourages a friendly and open environment where each department is able to work easily together on multiple projects.
Pros
Free Thursday lunches, table tennis, open communication with management, opportunities for growth
Cons
Work/life balance during busy seasons

I have been working at Mavencare full-time for about 2 years now and it has been a blast!

Not a good agency
HHA (Former Employee) –  New York City10 February 2017
The staff at Mavencare is very nice however they barely have any hours. They only really have 2-4 hrs cases and sometimes live in cases. When I went to apply for another job and needed a employment verification letter they gave me the run around for weeks ! LIED and said they faxed and emailed it. I had to threaten them that I'll call the BBB and had to ask to speak to the owner before they actually did anything ! DONT WAIST YOUR TIME !
Pros
Free Lunch, Nice Clients
Cons
Not enough hours, rarely any good benefits

Good management team, ready to take your call when needed.Easy to talk to.
D.C.S. / PSW (Current Employee) –  Edmonton, AB15 March 2016
As in any healthcare position it does come to an end. Some endings are happier than others, but it is the needs of the client that come first, and you have to be able to see it for what it is.
The best part of the job is the integration of oneself into the family fold, providing care and support to the client and the family. At the end of the day when you leave, the client looks forward to the next day...you know it was a good day.
