a typical day of work as a newcomer to matchtech manufacturing would be being put onto machine with 5 minute cycle times and within those 5 minutes you're expected to deburr, inspect and prep the next fixture to load then do that for 8+ hours, 5 days a week. you can expect to make thousands of the same part over and over again and then told every day how your times are worse than others then youll be called into the production managers office and told you can be let go if your times do not improve. youll do this while making the bare minimum income and wont go up in pay even though they promised you a raise after your probation period. during your year review every mistake you made has been noted and will be used against you on why you wont be getting a raise. my coworkers were hostile to me with the older ones openly berating me for any mistakes. after years working there i never got a raise, my benefits were below standard and i never had an opportunity to advance. ive seen many of my coworkers get their jobs terminated for various reasons so this place has a high turnover. also this place is constantly short staffed so youll be pushed and pushed to make up for the very little amount of people. if you like doing the same thing over and over again for hours on end then i suppose youll enjoy working here.

Awful place to work, zero respect for their workforce.

CNC Machinist/Operator (Current Employee) - Sunderland, ON - 11 September 2023

This company was one of the worst I have ever worked for. The pay was way below average and the benefits were extremely lackluster. The production manager of the shop routinely threatened to terminate people whenever a mistake occurred. In my time working there I've witnessed several people get terminated with zero notice including one being let go for applying to a competing shop. You're expected to work overtime and will be written up if you do not comply. During my time there it was made clear that they will always have staffing issues due to their location and treatment of staff so it is fair to say you will be working twice as hard for half the pay. No respect was given and there were zero opportunities for advancement. We were all promised bonus's but after working there for years I have received nothing. The work environment is very hostile with older co-workers openly berating you for any mistake. It is a very high stress environment and in my opinion it is not worth the very minimal pay they offer.

Management and Termination Practices: It's concerning to hear about your experience with our previous production manager. We aim to maintain a fair and respectful working environment. We do wish we had the opportunity to discuss and address these concerns properly while you were here, but will investigate any recent terminations where this could have been possible, although, it is important to note that there have been no terminations here at Matchtech since before 2023. Overtime and Staffing: We understand that overtime can be demanding, and we do expect employees to comply with reasonable requests. This is why we do our best to schedule overtime as far as possible in advance, and with minimal invasion to the work life balance we strive to maintain for our employees.
