Health Information (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 25 May 2018
The department is under new management who doesn't understand the needs of the department at all. Instead, just concentrates on micromanaging shifts and numbers with expectations that are unrealistic by industry standards. Management doesn't care about quality of work, only numbers, treats you like a machine. Training is terrible. The department has many employees that have worked at the hospital for 10+ years; these employees act like they are spoiled entitled brats. New employees are attacked and berated if you don't join their clique of toxic views. Pay is not competitive with other hospitals. For your own mental health, stay away.
Nursing student (Former Employee) – Markham – 5 April 2018
Excellent nursing management, high-quality patient care delivery. The hardest part was to actively apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills in everyday practice. The most enjoyable part of the job was being offered support by other staff.
Student Respiratory Therapist (Current Employee) – Markham, ON – 10 March 2018
Great environment. Staff all work well together. I worked as a student for 8 months. Preceptors were very receptive and will to teach. Other professions treated you nicely and helped with anything you needed.
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) – Maternal and child health. – 12 January 2018
Less support for staff working in these areas. Staff come and go quickly. Not unionized . Staffs are forced to cross trained in areas where they are not interested .less job satisfaction. Current manager (2017-2018)is good but so much politics among staff and management .
Frontline nurses are under appreciated and overworked
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) – Markham, ON – 10 January 2018
The organization has a great education bursary for those seeking professional development. Benefits are supposedly 100% coverage for full-time staff but are not that great (e.g. no coverage for orthodontics, very limited coverage for paramedical services). Great frontline teams despite heavy workload (RNs are non-unionized and management have taken advantage of this).
Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee) – Markham, ON – 8 December 2017
If u r a superwoman or Superman, definitely come here to work to show your abilities and skills . Otherwise, the super busy workload will kill you. Bad income/less vocation days/not unionized/not worth it!
Labour and Delivery and Post Partum Nurse (Current Employee) – Markham, ON – 23 November 2017
Horrible place to work due top managers and directors. Staff come and go so quickly. They come for just enough experence and then they move on. This is a place you can lose your licence due to poor managers
Fair teamwork, non unionised (sometimes not a drawback)
Staff Nurse (Former Employee) – Markham, ON – 8 September 2017
Decent ER. Cannot comment since the expansion of the department. Appears better than before sine the space was needed. Workplace morale was good, good collaboration between medical, nursing and paramedical teams.
Porter (Current Employee) – 381 Church Street – 30 May 2017
The job consists of pushing patients to and from tests, delivering specimens and bodies. If you are not easily grossed out and are able to keep up in a fast paced work place then you'll do great. Some physical exertion required.
