Excellent company to work for
Platform Security Lead, Global Cyber Security Services (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 24 April 2023
Featured review
Manulife selected this as a representative reviewVery friendly management and just about anyone you meet. Employees are generally happy as the company really strives to support it's employees. Great health benefits of course. Company really supports employee goals for advancement and will help create opportunities including training. Management also believe in work life balance and are very supportive.
Cons
The only con I could think of is the number of meeting I had to attend due to my role.

If you don't mind being treated like a robot by the coropration, this job might be for you.
Customer Service Professional (Former Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 28 November 2023
Team leaders are very good, middle and upper management don't care about you. This is a big corporation that treats you like a number, squeezing more and more out of their employees and using inhumane metrics to maximize profits, downloading the stress on their lowest income earners. The benefits are good, pay is fair and ironically attention to mental health is also good.
Pros
Benefits, fair pay, fair# of vacation and sick days
Cons
Weekends, evenings, very rigid schedules, little flexibility, no work culture or community

Collaborative and Progressive
IT Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 21 November 2023
I loved the team I worked with. Senior leadership was very approachable and always ready to talk one-on-one. Could ask questions but things started to change with new leadership and policies.

Management is great
Case Manager (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 2 November 2023
All management seemed very nice to communicate with on a daily basis. High work load and a lot of tasks to complete in a day. The fully remote work is nice.

Poor Work Ethics
Business Analyst (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 30 October 2023
If you are interested in working for a soulless organization that treats you like nothing but an employee number and everything depends on the whims and fancies of your immediate manager, then Manulife is the place for you. The company boasts of many values on their website especially one called "Share your Humanity" which is probably the biggest joke. There is no humanity within a country mile at this company. No scope for growth. Frequent changes in management structure and absolutely no clarity in what is expected of you in your job role. Projects are constantly delayed and for the most part you are just let out to sea to drift along and if a tidal wave hits you that’s your problem Advice to Management Treat your employees better and provide everyone with access to Senior Management so that they don't only hear what your biased manager has to say.
Pros
Decent Work Life Balance
Cons
Biased Managers and completely tone deaf senior management

Just ok. But I would not recommend the place.
Data Analyst (Former Employee) - Waterloo, ON - 18 October 2023
They place was ok to work for. Company is huge and so are the layoffs with HUNDREDS being dismissed or offered severance packages. This happened at least twice in my short time working there.
Pros
Clean place to work at.
Cons
Work spaces remind me of a call center. Tiny desks in rows.

Jobs at Manulife
If you want a job that doesn't make you wish you had another don't work here.
PMA (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 6 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The customers. Management is hard on employees to pump out more work. Cases employees to argue and compete. Having satisfied customers was the best part. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Management. The way employees are treated is not ok. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not bad. Most employees keep it fun. The job specifics are rewarding when customers are satisfied. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Busy. Too much to do, pressure to do it.

Great Place for Learning

Large corporation, good for building career profile. A lot of learning opportunities and exposure to other countries. Not much work life balance, could be stressful at times.

Decent place to work, poor senior management
Loved the people I worked with. Exposed to interesting technologies. Like all insurance companies, senior management only cares about money and make decisions that do not benefit their employees.

Busy Workplace
CSR - Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Halifax, NS - 9 August 2023
Great inclusive & diverse company. As a CSR you are on the phones all day. The only thing I don't like is asking to use the washroom as an unscheduled break. It goes against you in the end.

lay off
Client Account Representative (Former Employee) - Halifax, NS - 3 August 2023
Manulife has good benefit but the culture is not that close knit. Our managers are all in Toronto. Abrupt lay off with out any reason even if you are doing a great job.
