Okay but leave the door open
N/A (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 12 October 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIf Calgary head office allowed Edmonton to run without getting involved it would be a much better place to work. There is an overall shortsighted approach to running the business and not much focus on employee moral or good company culture. They'll save 5 bucks today only to waste 500 in the following week

Relaxed pace but very underpaid
Building cleaner / landscaper (Current Employee) - Chilliwack, BC - 6 December 2023
Basically, the company pays minimum wage and you don’t see wage increases, the only benefit is the relaxed atmosphere and slower pace. Management is okay.
Pros
Flexible
Cons
Low pat

I've had the privilege of work for MEQ and it has been an incredibly journey . Their open-door policy and willingness to listen to employee feedback.
Regional Office Administrator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 7 October 2023
My work as a Regional Administrator was from 8am to 5pm with an hour lunch break. New things I learned was payroll , scheduling work orders, team meetings, processing vendor invoices etc. Management was very supportive and really like the open door policy. Fun filled environment to work and great colleagues.
Pros
Mainstreet gives opportunities to employees to grow within the company & re hires former employees.
Cons
It’s a fast-paced working environment and as the number of doors are increasing, one need to be very organised .

It was gross
Resident Manger (floater) (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 17 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? I cant think of anything good to say. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Dealing with the computer program they use and all the email you have to respond to. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Sitting in a small dirty office in a scummy building, and dealing with customers who speak other languages, and it's very hard to understand what they are saying.

Company is a joke
Labourer (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 11 September 2023
Mainstreet is a joke. There is no room for advancement unless you happen to be of a certain nationality. Management is useless and clueless. You can continuously tell them of issue and nothing ever gets fixed, or it is fixed only when a disaster happens. Some of the lowest wages in the industry but managers are extremely well compensated with bonuses and kickbacks. They prey on the lowest common denominator, who are totally unaware of their rights as workers. Company really should be investigated.

Management is not reliable, the team is not collaborative, everyone is on their own. Very negative-stressful work environment. Lots of work and no help to preform. No bonus.

Understanding managers
Cleaner (Current Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 22 May 2023
Apartments after clients in a terrible state. When new tenants say the apartments are in bad condition... You didn't see what they were like before we cleaned up.

Underpaid , overworked
Resident Manager (Former Employee) - Prince George, BC - 15 May 2023
The employees in the PG office were wonderful but “head office” is a nightmare. Staff regularly were unable to take time off for lunch breaks, but their hours are automatically reduced as it’s “your fault for not taking lunch”. Staff regularly reported to managers that they couldn’t keep up with the workload, but HO reported they were unable to hire more staff until they acquired more buildings (from what I hear, they’ve acquired 9 more buildings and nothing has changed). If you have any sort of conscience, this is not the job for you. HO demands managers to evict tenants, despite having no legitimate reason, in hopes of scaring pre-existing tenants into moving before taking it to the RTB. The allowances and salary sounded nice, and in my interview I was told it’s would come out to “well over $20/hr” but my paystubs showed $18.5. Other staff/contractors went months before being paid, or have ongoing complaints about not being reimbursed or paid accurately. 0/10 recommend

Not a good place to be
Payroll Administrator (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 30 January 2023
Their hiring process is a Scam. They don’t hire someone who is deserving and hard working instead someone who has no experience or does not even know how to manage things. People are very obnoxious here don’t waste your time trying to get a job here.
Pros
None
Cons
Everything

Meh
Office Administrator (Former Employee) - Canada - 25 November 2022
Coworkers were great and pay was fair but managers treat you terribly. A very the customer is always right mentality with most of them to the point we’re someone threatened to harm me and other staff and we were asked what we could have done better.

No lateral movement or advancement.
Resident Manager (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 24 August 2022
I was living and working in an area I would not have otherwise chosen to live in or work in. I dealt with a lot of challenging issues and tenants. I was basically there for the money. I have been wanting to relocate and have applied for the same position or promotions in another area. Even though there were openings, I was not given the opportunity to relocate.
Pros
50% off Market Rent, Multicultural, Bonuses
Cons
Deal with a lot of problems.

Employees play around , hide and seek , frequent smoke and cofee break
o Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) - British Columbia - 2 July 2022
It’s good company to work, I see staff having a lot of time to smoke frequent coffee break, wasting their time, reporting their time to accomplish work unfairly . 30 minutes becomes 2 hours Their Yardi system doesn’t benefit the company. Un necessary purchase of materials not monitored properly, no inventory, company is not saving money. Not sure if the owner is aware to all of this. The owner is good employer kindhearted and knows how to appreciate hardwork, rewarding deserving employees, he should do frequent reviews and eradicate hide and seek staff that just wait for 15/30 $
Pros
Potluck, work culture
Cons
Favoritism exist

Work hard, get paid
Resident Manager (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 19 June 2022
Was an RM here. There is potential to make decent money through bonuses. As long as your numbers are fine people leave you alone. Good experience overall.
Pros
bonuses
Cons
stressful, difficult tenants

No long term security like retirement, low pay
Property Manager (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 13 June 2022
No long term security like retirement, low base pay not worth it for the long term. No proper planning and lots of politics involved. Sales team fight amongst themselves over leads. Really stressful environment.

Nice place to start for the beginners in residential maintenance
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 9 April 2022
many issues management to solve but not important for them such as On-Call frequency and only pay for on call when you take it but no compensation on waiting for the calls. wasting more time on looking for the material, writing work orders and requesting for PO. No training to the call center team in Calgary as they could solve many on call issues just on phone. These are the only few examples of the long list.

There is a lot of work for very little pay. The management team does not care about staff only money in their pocket.
Head office (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 3 March 2022
The only good thing about this company is the other employees and the parties they had. Upper Management really does not care for anyone there. You are only a number to them. The minute you have personal issues or may not be able to work as hard as they want they will tell you that you don’t fit in there. I would never recommend this company to anyone

Resident Manager/Leasing Agent
Resident Site Manager/Leasing Agent (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 27 July 2021
Company has high expectations when the staff is already stretched thin as it is. They love to hire you and then Fire you for no ethical reason, in some cases they will promote you to another position even when you don't want to do that position refusing adds to the reason to fire the staff, not to mention they sometimes don't have a reason as "you are no longer a fit to this company".....even though you may have already worked there for years Revolving staff and everyone is left to find out what you need in your toolbox to be successful....no leadership when you have no tools, just throw you out there and you need to figure it out yourself, AND then just when you do figure it out, They will let you go! I wouldn't recommend working for MEQ, simply because you are left to figure it out for yourself.
Pros
I didnt see any pros here
Cons
Long hours, no overtime, very little encouragement, very little recognition
