Poisoned work environment

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Too many unhappy people working here. Management is vindictive and takes no responsibility for the poisoned work environment. Ever increasing turnover of employees due to dissatisfaction

Horrible management and work environment

The workload is fast pace in a polluted work environment. Supervisors and managers are the worst I’ve ever encountered. They have no clue what’s really going on and treat the employees horribly. It’s not a wonder that most people who work there are grumpy and miserable. I don’t recommend this place at all!

Would not recommend to anyone

If you're a worker, they will abuse you so they don't have to deal with the others that will not do the work. No growth, uninvolved management that will tell you your paycheck is your motivation. Contract time every 3 years and surprise, they do not want to give you anything, I'm talking 0,0,0 for all 3 years. I was part of the last strike. It took place in a cow field and the union is in the company's back pocket. In a small town, people are simply stuck there.

Pros

Steady paycheck/weekly

Cons

Poor management, no growth potential, no motivation, cannot ship parts on time, rampant with accommodations

Horrible Management

I would not recommend working here. Pay is below scale and morale is terrible. Management focuses on petty details while ignoring the big picture. Key departments have crucial vacancies resulting in some employees taking on too much work.

Could be better

Management leaves a lot to be desired. Rules for thee but not for me mentality, and turns a blind eye with favourites. Employees are really good people though.

Good pay with overtime

Good place to start your aerospace career. Just do your work assignment then go home. Not much company advancement. One ick about the company is the management expects you to finish a quality job in a limited amount of time so they make more money.

Pros

Good Pay

Cons

Overtime is not equal for everyone

Your just a number

If your liked you , you can do well, But at the end of the day your just a number. Some days are slow, however your expected to "look busy". Sweep in circles if you have too.

Cool Manufacturing Processes, Below Average Pay, Terrible Management

Magellan is a good starter job to get experience and then move onto somewhere better. On the plus side, the coworkers were nice, the benefits (healthcare plan, pension contribution, vacation) are good, and there are a lot of specialty manufacturing processes under one roof (sheet metal forming, machining, welding, brazing, heat treatment, composites, NDI) which makes it a great place to get your feet wet.On the downside, management is perpetually stuck in the past - it's an old boys club from the 1980s. Everyone got to their positions because they were yes men, not because they were actually good at their job.The culture is nepotistic, they never fire any directors or managers, only move them around to other roles, and there is no leadership. They micromanage, treat budgets and raises as if it's coming out of their own pocket, and never want to spend any money on infrastructure, equipment or improvement.Certain managers have a chip on their shoulder for anyone with a degree, and they talk down to you, downplay your performance and achievements, and disregard any requests for further education or post-secondary. Ironically the same managers think they are the all-knowing God of manufacturing and their way must be the correct way (even when the advice they are spouting goes against the customer drawing, engineering practices and quality requirements).Other directors are in constant denial about why they cannot retain employees. It can't be that we are bad managers and offer below average pay - it must be that the employee was always going to leave anyway. The classic Winnipeg -

Pros

Benefits, Social Welfare Committee, Coworkers

Cons

Management, Pay, Culture

Good Workplace with Chances of Improvement

A good place to work with a good management team, mostly fair with timelines and such. The management team can improve and get updated for newer management styles, being able to support innovative ideas. Management is not much diverse, but the shop floor is.

Horrible place to work

Can’t say enough about how bad the management/HR department is. It’s truly sad cause it had a potential to be a lot better but because of the people running the place it’s just plain horrible. They do not care about family, health, or safely issues. If you call in for a shift too they will harass you constantly by phone until you answer and you’ll be asked 100 questions.

Pros

None

Cons

Hr, Management, Harassment

Good work environment and good people

This is good place to work, they don’t push to hard and the people you work with are great. In maintenance you will be expected to perform nearly every aspect of your trade, they don’t expect you to know everything but they expect you to be able to figure it out.

Pros

Flexible hours and good supervisor’s

Cons

No paid sick days

Great coworkers

Micromanagement will be the death of this particular industry. You feel replaceable although you are the expert at your job. They have lost sight.

Pros

Great coworkers

Cons

Poor management is the reason for all downfalls

new building

Future is looking poor, not securing new contracts. Easy warehouse work, pace is relatively laid back. Lots of long-term employees stay, younger people turnover.

Pros

overtime, pension

Cons

low raises

Too many levels of management, high stress, low level managers allowed to bully employees while backed by upper management

No amount of pay is worth the belittling by certain department managers. Not always awful, kinda of depends where you go in the company. Favourites chosen within the company will have the staff bending over backwards to appease them. If you aren’t a favourite, good luck. Also, if ever you get offered a staff position, do not accept it. You are no longer in the union and likely are securing the fact that you will be let go in about one to two years later.

Pros

Many good coworkers

Cons

Shift work sometimes week about is tough to adapt to Unreasonable management

Old Timey Company with old timey work culture

In school, the teacher always say company with a pension and good benefit basically don't exist? This is the exception so you will find lots of people staying there until retirement and newcomers working to fill those shoes with varying degrees of success.

Pros

Light supervision After 40 hours, overtime pay

Cons

no pay raise

Run as fast as you can

I would not recommend working at Magellan Aerospace. It is the most poorly led company that I have worked for in my working career of 40 years. There is no discipline for poor performance.

Pros

Met some great people

Cons

Management is the absolute worse!

always a challenge, I love a challenge.

Up early and set out the work that I will be doing. This work is a one man job, prepping parts for the oven and 30 minute preheat at 530 deg F. safety is of importance. Ajustable weld table makes life easy. Job is all hands on.

Very fast-paste environment. Old building. On-site gym.

Flexible hours: you can start as early as 6am and as late as 8:30am. Management is easy-going. A lot of work, lots of challenges. Good environment. Gym on site.

I would not recommend working there.

Human Resources does not protect you when your boss harasses you everyday and does not leave you alone. Don’t waste your time applying. Toxic work environment.

Productive, great team environment

Overall, the company has a great benefit and compensation plan. There is shift work involved. The training is on the job and you have a mentor assisting you through the training period.
