In a few words, Mackie owners and the people who you work with are great. HR is in their own bubble and they only make themself nice to the owners and the CEO who was running both finance and IT was a disaster and very cold to everyone. Only wish the owner knew that. Sometimes it is not the money that makes people happy at work, it is the environment.
Dead slow in the winter months but by summer time it's booming! Expect at least 45+ hours a week for work. Awesome management who get straight to the point. They don't pawn you off or make things out to be your fault, solid. The pay is Okay, but unless you have a class 5 or above with interest to drive a moving van/truck, don't expect to work your way up too quick. It's a good summer job or first job for someone young who wants hard work
Labour is essentially expendable on a whims notice, don't work here if you plan on paying rent/groceries/leading your own life.great guys/crews to work with but 0 loyalty to experienced workers from management and dispatch. They like to string guys along by telling them what they want to hear when things are busy so they don't lose labour but then turn on a dime, essentially damning their guys for other opportunities and work
Mackie Moving Markham Management need to review manpower on the floor. Lots of double job people working here and those are very lazy always depend on newly hire temps. Manager and supervisor have friendship with all lazy people so always depend on newly hire temps for work. need to reshuffle management structure for Markham location. need to evaluate each higher position and pull them out on floor to reduce work load. few bad people need let them layoffs. Many people asking management for layoff but somehow management not give them layoffs which is big concern to work on floor. need quick action right now.

The workers and drivers of Mackie Moving Services are all great and friendly people, but the management can be hard to work with at times. They are good people who are trying their best to help but can be hard to work with sometimes. When out on a job, the office workers can be hard to get a hold of, but overall it was an incredible year, and I had a great time.
Too much responsibility not enough pay, excellent co workers, average management, horrible ownership, outdated equipment, has two 15 minute breaks and 30 lunch free to take them whenever but I found I was overloaded with work most of the time so I would not take any breaks and just work through the entire day otherwise I would end up staying late to ensure things are done for the morning. they run on a skeleton crew in the warehouse so a lot of responsibility was dumped on me. managers don't really do much they just sit at the desk and do things on their phone rarely come down to departments at the back of the warehouse to see if everything is going alright meanwhile they have people slugging around 500 pound appliances with barely any supervision especially at night when they have only 1 person working in the appliance department.
Horrible pay for the responsibilities given
Excessive supervisors and Lead hands. Need to reduce supervisors and Lead hands and add more people to work on floor.I found total 3 supervisors and 3 lead hands 1 inverotry analyst to handle actual 15 people work on floor. Mostly double job working people relaxing here
overtime for special leadhands only to relax
I worked here up until my 2 days before my probation. Was absolutely amazing at the job and figured things out even there staff couldn't making them lots of money for items not being sent back, dedicating all my time and effort into the job, 12-16 hour days and they treat you like garbage. They'll tell you you are not right for the job meanwhile you're doing better then there own drivers ! Good place to make easy money for a month or 2 before you find something good. THEY DO NOT WANT TO PAY BENEFITS AFTER 3 MONTHS FOR NEW PEOPLE.
Get to see ontario
12+ hours no lunch
Just getting to know the expectations of the job when work seemed to dry up. only working a few weeks. good place to work if getting enough hours on a steady basis.
reasonable pay for unskilled labourers
no problems as Im single and available for any hours
This place is a revolving door.People leave after few hours on the job.Horrible management, intimidates employees that don't know any better and if you speak up for yourself you are a called in the "principal's office".Move along don't waste your time with this company.
