Very productive and satisfying when seeing others are getting the help they need at the right time. The management is supper in trying to accommodate as much work as possible. The most enjoyable part of the job is when clients are happy of the service. The hardest part of the job is when meeting with clients who do not want you to help them for their personal care and this is understood as some of them have dementia , lost loved ones and/or irritation due to lose of mobility. Would like to go back to Luma Care if they start hiring as they are very reliable and caring. Luma care provides the best and professional PSWs to customers according to their needs.

Managers lack empathy and have a very corporate view of what’s supposed to be a non-profit organization, serving seniors. The organization wants to gain funding not to help their clients but to give management bonuses and not give bonuses to the frontline workers. Some managers aren’t even qualified for their roles and only keep their roles because of friendships with senior management. When social workers advocate for their clients, the organization’s outlook is that clients should take whatever support they can get and if they don’t, that means they don’t really need the support. Lack of training, lack of support, lack of professionalism, lack of care for the wellness of their employees, lack of care for the clients. Caseloads are unmanageable as social workers were also expected to provide support to community clients online 7 days a week, be apart of 1-2 committees, create policies and procedures, look over and approve of legal waivers, etc. Management delegated creating policies and procedures as well as liability waivers to social workers as a response to the team feeling overworked and not supported. When concerns are brought up to management and senior management, more work is piled onto employees so they don’t have time to bring up concerns and everything is swept up under the rug to protect its managers rather than ensuring clients are holistically supported. Social workers were very siloed by management and were not encouraged to speak to other managers to gain information. A lot of micromanaging and lack of trust of employees.

Hostile work environment, Management is toxic all the way down to HR. Lack of support and training from managers, no professionalism. Company only cares about receiving funding and targets, no work life balance. No freedom of speech/opinion, beware you'll be threatened you might lose your job for speaking out.I would not recommend this place if you want to keep your sanity and morality.

Senior management lack collaborative approach, people’s mental wellbeing and physical safety not considered. People get ahead by being a favourite and being willing to be a doormat and taken advantage of. Senior managers gave themselves raises, but staff told there was no money for increases.

I would have to agree with all the previous negative reviews. This place is a disaster zone. Little or no training. Outdated equipment & systems base on lack of insight. A selfish and childish mentality across the board where no one knows anything but expect everything immediately. Gossip and complaining but no suggested solutions or accountability for the comings . Management knows nothing about leadership. It's all about who's kissing up to whom which is a certain recipe for failure. Dependent on ppl who don't care about the company or it's goals. Incompetence seems to be the major theme so those who know what they are doing will have everyone else's work dumped on their plate w/o compensation or proper acknowledgment

So many levels of management makes for a very difficult working environment. All people do is talk behind other people's backs. Would not reccomend this company to anyone. Also it seems like you are in some kind of useless training every other day.

Management is horrible! They make u feel incompetent and lots of mini bosses. Management tries to talk to you any how they feel .. lack of appreciation for employees! Especially at the head office ! Lots of work and they don’t pay properly! Management do not know how to run programs because they don’t know how to do the work of the department they are running !! Management care about units and not the employees

My experience at Lumacare was nothing but positive. Everyone made sure I was welcomed properly and had efficient training. Management did their best to accommodate their employees and was always willing to discuss any concerns. Meetings and training modules were easy to understand and competent. Cultural diversity was very much present in the staff.

The clients are great to work with! Love their positive energy, especially during home visits. There is a negative vibe with management in the office. Happy to be out in the community but not in the office. Not worth staying here.

This by far is the worst place I have ever worked. Management is so bad and are so toxic and it just goes from there. Current managers are in positions they have no idea what there employees do. Always negative feedback never postive.

The place is full of gossips, mini bosses, people that refused new hired as they will never give you all the information you need to do a good work, and are always ready to make you feel incompetent. They even recognized that they are known for not welcoming well new hired. They claim they need staff in the management but will never really let you do your job. Not open to new ideas, new information. I will never recommend that place unless you are my worst enemy

Management and some staff are extremely rude and not helpful, they allow the environment to be hostile for new employees. No proper training, poor pay, poor structure and constant critisism. Not a productive or nurturing environment. Your skills and attributes are not acknologed or appreciated.

Some of the staff are nice to work with, while some are two faced. The management are out of touch with the real world and staff turnover is extremely high. Too much politics and red tape going on, and you could loose your job if you are not liked by any of the senior staff members. The salary is quite poor compared to other non-profit organization around, but nonetheless it is a great place to get an entry level job and build professional experience.
