Always wanting salary employees to work way more then 40 hours. More than have the time you never received lunch 1 hour long. The take advantage of your kindness. Especially being a women. There is no equal pay for equal work

Pros

The discount and the people

Cons

Only a number, took advantage of l.

Pushy

The management is very pushy for the cashier to do better when they are already working their butts off. Do better. You have to ask the customer a million questions yet the customer is getting frustrated from them when it’s not their fault it’s the management

Not terrible

Just like any retail store, its 50/50 on work load and satisfaction for every day. You'll likely be trained in multiple departments/jobs if you're even alright at your hired position. Coworkers are lovely & department managers treat you like a human, higher ups though not really. They rarely fire people for poor performance so expect to pick up lots of slack. Rarely call anyone in to replace a call-out. Though if you do your job & what you are told to do, they heavily lax on a lot of rules like cell phone use & coffee on the floor. New hires often get offered more than long-term employees are making after years. Yearly raises less than $1. Easy to get promoted. Overtime is time + a half, as well as holidays, including the day before and the day after. Full-time gets holidays off with pay. Only ever closed one day a year. Evenings and weekends required for most.

Pros

Hour long lunch breaks, mandatory break every 2h, everyone has your back, flexible schedules

Cons

Potential heavy work load, low long-term pay, close-open shifts expected in front end, managers don't like overtime

Cons

Hard working place.

night shift was always the same time and place.easy to get trained on all lift equipment.hardest part was getting everything put away before opening.most enjoyable part was the team. always willing to help and friendly to talk to.

Pros

always the same shift. relaxed job. great people.

Cons

pay because of cost of living sky rocketing or it would have been fine.

Pretty good until Sycamore Partners purchase

What is the best part of working at the company? As usual, the great co-workersWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Being purchased by Sycamore partners a private equity groupWhat is the work environment and culture like at the company?Tense, uncertain, no direction, sycamore knows nothing about Home ImprovementWhat is a typical day like for you at the company? It depends on the manager of the day, if I get the incompetent, stressful manager, it is not good.

there is a reason why this company has been sold twice in 7 years

too much bureaucracy and secrecy. Information that should be made available too you is often treated as classified. promotions are based entirely on favoritism. Far too often new managers were hired from out side the company and normally were personally connected to the existing management. No inclusivity as some departments were not eligible for company recognition awards.

Pros

rank favoritism for those who tout the party line and play politics

Cons

company keeps getting sold

Very ok

It's good for getting your foot in the door, but aside from that it's not that great. I worked in the garden center and it was awful during the summer and winter.

Pros

Friendly coworkers

Cons

Long hours in the heat

It was alright

It was alright, minimum hours a week, with an okay pay. The staff and co workers were nice, but you constantly needed to do more and more training to stay ahead.

Great as long as you can work efficiently

At the time of writing this review, I still work here! I work in the Distribution side of the business, not retail.Overall the job is fairly enjoyable, though there has been a shift of focus onto production numbers over the last 6 months. Nothing unobtainable. As a whole, there is a massive focus on safety above all else. If you are looking to cut corners to get things done faster, look elsewhere. My direct coach/ supervisor is probably the most respectful person I've had the privilege of working under. The work can be monotonous at time, but there are always opportunities for collaboration. The warehouse is cleaner than most, and most employees are trained in multiple departments to adapt to day-to-day business. Employee recognition is frequent and measurable, unlike many warehouses-- Celebrating safety milestones and ware-house sales goals. I've lost count of how many free catered meals, or merchandiser has been awarded to our team.there are also pseudo-monthly team building exercises which include all departments, and monthly town-hall meetings to transparently keep the staff up-to-date with how the warehouse and company are doing (along with upcoming milestones, work anniversaries and birthdays). You'd be hard pressed to find this elsewhere. Compensation is above the local median... Not the highest, not the lowest.

Pros

Employee recognition lunches, casual dress, friendly staff, spacious employee parking.

Cons

occasional technical issues, minor gossip/drama if you listen for it.

Not a place you want to stay for the long haul

This is just a job and not a lifelong career! This place that has low pay, low moral and poor management at all levels. Unless your in-between jobs and looking to pay your bills until you find a more suitable one. You shouldn't apply at all.

Probably the most toxic workplace I’ve ever been in

What is the best part of working at the company? The only perk was the staff discount What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management and minimal staff on hand. You are expected to run 3 departments at times and it’s very overwhelming when you have customers in every aisle needing assistance What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Toxic. Very toxic. After working there for 5 years, their management team is rude, belittling and disrespectful. They aren’t on your team, and never helpful What is a typical day like for you at the company?Full of stress. Lunches interrupted unless you leave the building

They were very helpful when it came to situations with my family.

Management had difficulty seeing a person's hard work, not repermanding those who abused department employees. Their concerns of abuse were NOT met, also punishing those who DID the job and forcing them into another department for voicing concerns if abuse in the department.

Average

Retail is all about management. Current management can’t communicate well. It’s hard to meet expectations when expectations aren’t clearly stated. Management is often inconsistent with praise and criticism.

It was a great place to work and I would to go back there to work in a minute

What is the best part of working at the company?I worked at Lowe's for about 3 years and the employees became family to me. I enjoy working with the public and Lowe's was a great place to work. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?I really didn't find it stressful What is the work environment and culture like at the company? When Lowe's is busy your always busy as well.. Lowe's has a lot of different cultures working within the company which is good because you can learn from other people. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Sometimes busy, going from front end cash to lumber and garden center when needed. If it's a slow day I use to clean the area around my cash to make sure everything was clean and tidy

Negative, stressful, learned not to know more than those above should know but don't.

Mid management and up are so incompetent it's surprising they aren't closed yet. I guess if you are "friends" with higher up of the other persuation that's how you get up there not by what you do or know. VERY BAD place to work.

Pros

My team

Cons

Mid management and up. Know nothing but act like they do until someone higher finds out.

Decent workplace

I worked unloading trucks as a student. They paid above minimum wage and gave a set work schedule (the same days/hours every week). I would recommend this job to any students looking for work
