Great please to work but mismanaged
Full-Time Clerk (Current Employee) - Aurora, ON - 18 May 2022
Longos is a great place to work and the salary and job security is great but it is terribly mismanaged and there is no real room to advance.

High Stress, Expects Perfection from Part Time Staff, (My Location) Toxic Work Enviroment
Produce Clerk (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 14 May 2022
I’ve worked at two different Longos Locations and for about Three years now. Positive: They pay quite well, always above Minimum wage even for part-timers. Like most stores some department managers are great, while others are terrible. Negatives: The customers are extremely entitled, you will get belittled for things out of your control and customers will try to take advantage of you. Store managers can also be quite demanding, but that’s understandable since they have to run the store, but it can be quite annoying especially when it’s extremely busy and they’re on you for everything. (My negative experience) the latest store I worked at I tried to transfer from multiple times due to their toxic environment, the problem is Longos has a ridiculous transfer policy where Unless you are urgently needed where you are transferring to, it could take half a year to a whole entire year for you to get transferred. Asking for a transfer and or trying to leave the toxic department will also cause the department manager to treat you worse, and tell stories behind your back. The company preaches that they treat their employees like family but in reality they don’t and they treat there employees more like 2nd class citizens, even though they work hard.

Life draining and inconsiderate
Key Holder/Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 2 May 2022
Awful management with no respect for employees time and hard work. Always under staffed and getting out hours cut. Seen entire staff quit over 18 months. Expects staff to use company app on your off time. Neither me nor any of my co-workers would recommend.

Stressful
The assistant store manager in the Milton store makes you question reality. You should not have to feel like you're worthless every single day. The whole team puts in 100% everyday but it's just not good enough. It's managers like this who give longos a bad name

It's okay
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Leaside, ON - 24 April 2022
Its alright. Team is fine. Good as a skill building job. Management is fine; but if inconvenience in anyway (ei. Calling in sick), can cause tension. Have to talk to the right people for advancement.

Bad management, no pay increase
PDF Clerk (Current Employee) - Burlington, ON - 12 April 2022
I have worked here for 5 years, almost all the managers are fairly rude and want to command you like a dog. In the 5 years i have worked i have gained about 15 cents additional pay because the pay does not increase when the minimum wage does so someone with no experience will be receiving almost the same pay as somone with 5 or even 10 years on the job
Pros
10% off at Starbucks in the store
Cons
Bad management, no upward mobility

Jobs at Longo's
Terrible
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 9 April 2022
Unless you get a good manager, then this job is awful. They don’t care about you or anything. They are rude and make rude remarks about there employees. Don’t recommend

Great people but can be a bit boring and not enough opportunities to make switches
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee) - Brampton - 8 April 2022
Working here and getting to know the people has been a blast, but personally working as a cashier is not my favourite. The management isn't bad but if you want to cross train it can be difficult to find positions.
Pros
End of the year team member discounts
Cons
Small daily discounts and possibility of miscommunications

It’s not a bad place
Not a bad place to work at. It can be very stressful and some of upper management just cares about the numbers and not the people. Would be better if they gave a better work/family balance. Overall not a bad place to work at.

Typical "you are like family" job
Customer Sales Associate (Former Employee) - Thornhill, ON - 21 March 2022
Worked there for a year and realized that the family they meant was filled with neglect and disinterest. The job was slow, pay was low, and there was limited opportunities for any increase in position or pay. The store managers were rude to staff and not understanding of employee's personal lives. For a minimum wage job there are better places to work.

Great for starters.
Grocery Clerk (Former Employee) - Longos York Mills - 19 March 2022
This is just decent job for entry level or for fresh starters. Not much responsibility and accountability as long as you look busy, then you are good. The managers are great and mostly accommodating. Most of the tenured worker has high pride (mostly 3 years old and above, apart from starters), these folks are moody and sometimes are unprofessional that could affect the work environment. Overall, it is still a decent job, advancement is impossible if you are not into work politics.
Pros
For full-time employees, the benefits and insurance is top notch
Cons
There are old timers that are arrogant, cynical and very political.

great friends
Assistant Bakery Manager (Former Employee) - Box Grove, ON - 14 March 2022
some employees are not held accountable. management depends on other employees to make up for the slack of others. pay is good as well as health benefits. up to date with software regarding scheduling.

productive
Bakery Clerk (Former Employee) - Woodbridge, ON - 5 March 2022
It's really whatever. Most people are either part-timers as students or full-time adults. Everyone is friendly but there a large gap between the two groups. Everyone wishes they weren't there.

Above average grocery store, well maintained.
Cashier/Customer Service (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 28 February 2022
The store in general are generally well looked after, clean and maintained. They expect you to also look the part and be very conservative looking (no earrings, wear black uniform, natural hair colour etc..)
Pros
Decent perks if you are full timer
Cons
Can be a little harsh on dress code and rules

Making pizza all day with friends what is better?
Food Service Clerk (Former Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 17 February 2022
Great fast paced workplace. great hours (7-3pm, 4-10pm). manager was so supportive and coworkers were all young and eager. customers are nice as its a high end grocery store. honestly i loved it here. also training is formal - both online modules and in person training shifts. you never work alone (at least i didnt). it was always with another person
Pros
Discount on food, good hours
Cons
no room for growth

A good place to work especially for students, flexible hours, fair and easily reachable management.
Kitchen Team Member (Current Employee) - Mississauga, ON - 9 February 2022
Fairly simple job to learn. Co-workers and management are helpful and nice. Management is easy to communicate with and very accommodating, especially for students. Learned a lot about little ins and outs of grocery stores I wouldn't have otherwise. Good time overall.
Pros
Good coworkers
Cons
Not a lot of opportunities
